There is definatley gun crime here in Great Britain, but I think that if any British person could go into a shop and buy a gun then the crime would be a lot higher. I know in certain estates in Britain it is easy to purchase a gun, but that is the minority of places not the whole island!

Why dont they just have a ban in America where you cant go into a shop and buy any gun? Surley there si NO need for anybody to own a gun? A gun has only 1 purpase, and that is to destroy something. Its bizarre to me that there is a law which allows americans to be able to buy something that serves only to hurt or kill.

So in other words, you are at war with you neighbours and fellow americans? and thats why you need a gun to protect yourselves?

In the long term, say 50 years, a ban on guns would eventually cut gun crime, its obvious. its not rocket science!!!!

Ok, shall we legalise heroin and cocaine? just because its there anyway? Shall we legalise murder and rape just because it happens anyway?

2007-04-17 07:15:59 · update #5

heroin is illegal but it is still a huge problem. But if it was made legal to buy in shops, it would be easier for anyone to purchase, and the world would be a thousand times more ****** up! your average family man or woman addicted to heroin.

So most ppl below think that a gun is an ideal christmas present? and everyone who owns an ipod and mobile phone should also own the latest gun? Commercialise guns, prducing more and more each year until every man and women on earth owns one? Is that what you believe is good for the world and humanity? Nice one : )

If you were president you could do no such thing. Even in the UK, the PM or the Sovereign is unable to pull that off.

The Second Amendment in our Constitution grants the right to bear arms to the people.

If one student in one of the classrooms had a gun on them the killer would have been put down much quicker and less would have died.

The suicide bombings in Israel came to be the common tactic because small arms netted less and less casualties due to an armed and aware populace. The lesson is that even if you make guns irrelevant then other tactics will be used. Austrailia had a shooting with 35 casulaties, the UK had the incident in Scottland. Japan had 8 killed and 15 injured by a lone man with a knife. Those who wish to harm others will find a way.

I agree with you, not anyone should be allowed to have a gun.
But banning them is not going to solve the problem not even minimize it. Drugs are illegal, yet it is one of the worst problems the world has.

I think they should be a very strict process before you can buy a gun, it should not be as easy as buying a soda, there should be psychological tests, background investigations, police records, etc. The problem is that any psycho can buy a gun in the U.S.! Look at what happened in Columbine, how come two teenagers, legally underage, were able to buy ammo, and guns, for me that is very absurd.

Owning a deadly gun or guns is a part of the American tradition with all those fiercy murderous pistoleros and all that.

I don't think the USA president would ever be able to prevent USA citizens from owning such deadly weapons. It would be something like wanting women of a certain religion to get rid of their shabby head-to-toe attires.

It is a sort of religious virtue for a great number of USA-citizens to own deadly weapons, shot-guns, and to amuse themselves with them, or to drastically use them for some bloody revenge.

Tv-programs all over the World are most obsessively infested by imported USA violence-movies where it is indulged quite a lot on bloody scenes where people are deadly shot and shoot each other in their faces in the good old pistolero-way, or mafia-way, or they smash each other's faces, and all the etceteras of blunt bloody violence.

Of course it would be good to start somewhere really wanting to educate people, old and young, to a life without revolvers, shot-guns and other weapon-arsenals, and also without fictitious entertaining deadly violence. But a lot more is needed than just a decree from president Bush. A whole culture needs to be changed, and that can hardly be done by one or more USA-presidents, or in just one generation's time.

The U.S. constitution gives us a right to bear arms. If guns were able to be eliminated from the entire world, I'd say get rid of them. The invention of guns has only increased violence in this world. But, since they are here, I say pass the ammunition. I want to be armed in this crazy world of ours. Why should only the bad guys have guns. Since they will not be banned here, I want my protection.

Well you are not the president of the US or you would know that he doesn't have the power to over-ride the Constitution. Stay in your UK you little pusssy.
