Cairns or Adelaide?

Question

I am intending to migrate to Australia and I spotted two cities: Cairns in Queensland and Adelaide in South Australia.
Could anyone have more information about which of them is the best for living in terms of the availability of job opportunities (Knowing that I am working in Business administration),standards of life, cost of living (Housing, Education, health care)

Adelaide is the capital city of the State of South Australia with a population of more than half a million people. Cairns is a provincial town in far north Queensland with a population of less than 100,000. Townsville to the south is a bigger city.

Adelaide is less than 1000km from Melbourne and about 1400km from Sydney. Cairns is about 2000km from Brisbane, the capital city of Queensland. Brisbane is about the same size as Adelaide.

Adelaide is much drier than Cairns with hot, dry summers and mild wet winters. Cairns has warm wet summers and warm dry winters. Cairns can also get tropical cyclones (hurricanes). Adelaide has more, and better, schools, universities, hospitals, shopping centres, sporting facilities etc etc. Cairns is a great place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there.

As far as housing and jobs are concerned, check the local papers online, particularly on Saturdays. Look for the Adelaide Advertiser and the Cairns Post.

I lived in Cairns all my life and I just love the place...I moved to the US in December and really am regreting my decission but I will stick it out for a year and probably move home...

Cairns is AWESOME!!! If you dont mind being a little isolated from other cities (is about 20+ drive to Brisbane)...

Cairns does have a lot to offer...the cost of living is much cheaper than in the other major centres around Australia. There is so much to do outdoors that if you love the outdoors you will never get bored...

evaluating Cairns and Adelaide is like evaluating apples and oranges. they have completely distinctive climates and way of life. i've got spent a lot of time in Adelaide, the in-rules stay there. Adelaide is a captivating city and has a lot going for it yet as i'm a Queenslander I favour Cairns. the factor with Cairns is, it truly is interior the tropics and has an endless summer time. i don't know in case you hit upon that a plus or minus. of direction, no person says you are able to desire to stay in one place for something of your life. you're living evidence of that already.

Many job opportunities. Don't forget to get you visa online before you go. I recommend Cairns its sunnier and has many tourists so there's more jobs to fill. while Adelaide has many universities and many students looking for jobs.

You can easily get temp jobs at a liqueur store or restaurant. Just go in and ask.

In living terms as an american i had more disposable money in Australia than i did in America. An 2 bedroom newly furnished apartment in with a pool and gym, in the city center only cost 1000 buck a month in Brisbane.

Education depends as an american i had to pay international student fees. I think with a work visa you might not have to pay so much more like 5-10,000 per semester.

I would suggest Adelaide not Cairns is extremely humid and hot and wet in summer months and plenty of violence at present and on the increase especially in the city. I would strongly recommend Adelaide more laid back city and very friendly people plenty of jobs - cost of living would be basically the same as anywhere else in australia.
