President Kennedy was assisnated in November 63, His Brother Bobby was assainated a year or more later.
I think, there used to be books, or calendars, about each year, directed at people who were born whatever year. See if you can find some about 1960 through 69. There might be a website, too. Or just pick a topic, type it into your browser and see what pops up.

The Space Race.
Technically started in the late fifties but the mission to land on the moon took most of the decade of the 60s. "From the Earth to the Moon" is a great miniseries on DVD about this if you like your history in a tasty format.
