There is a major flaw in your question. Hardly anyone exports firearms TO the U.S. It's completely the other way around. The U.S. is the Number 1 exporter of firearms (Both legal and otherwise) and that should answer your question as to why other countries criticize you.
You reap what you sow.
The Canadian gun registry (Where I'm from) is a joke in itself, but other, more intelligent countries have brilliant gun laws, and bans. (Like Scandinavia) Where the death rate caused by guns in neglible at best.
Start banning your firearms Americans, and rip the lobby status away from the NRA. Your constitution is 200 years out of date, and must be changed.

The reason they export it to the US is because the demand is in US. The day the US stops buying and consuming guns, export will stop.
But actually, I think the US produce more guns than they can sell!
