1992 honda prelude 2.2L S sohc
ok my batt light turns on one day so i check the alternator and batt, both are good, then i test my batt another day and its bad so i have new batt and still the batt light is on and and car doesnt hold a charge and dies out once i shut the car off, what should i do had same problem for 2 weeks...should i jus put a new alternator in b/c the one in now isnt in good shape.

We recently bought a 99 alero and were driving it for a while, then all the lights came on and the gauges wernt working, bought a new battery and it did the same thing, it was the alternator not working so the care was running just off battery and it cant run very long befory the battery dies. Here we have an advance auto and they will do a free bat and alternator test, maybe try that again. GL

Remove a battery cable & fully charge the battery. In dim lighting, touch the terminal to battery post. You should not see spark. If a spark is present, then check that all accessories are off. If there is still a spark then listen for click or a dull thud. There maybe a circuit breaker or a relay tripping.

Go to an auto shop and get the alternator checked.

your alternator isn't charging properly, replace it.
