All the numbers aside --- when you're in love - they are invisible and don't apply to you!

Where do you live that the figures are that high? So the divorce rate is 55% and 60% of all women are cheating! A woman may have an affair if she is not happy at home and the same for a man. You have to commit to marriage, the problem is to many people take it to lightly and just say "well, if it don't work out I'll just get a divorce"

Getting married is getting married to a particular person that one very much likes to get married to. Getting married is also backed up with the idea of getting a family of one's own with a very particular person who very much likes to make a family and get children. A person gets married because he or she is in love, and while being in love he or she does hardly think about the statistics of betrayal. Getting married is not like buying a new car or some other property of some kind, therefore getting married happens in the domain of more pure and more confident feelings.

Anyway, people think usually quite a lot before asking someone to marry them, and not because of the statistics of betrayal but because getting married is a very huge step in one's life.

And then if things really should end up wrong in one's marriage, one can always ask for a divorce and so find some new partner or no partner at all. Romans are reported to always say that "when a Pope dies you just make a new Pope". Life should never be too stiff and stifling because of fears of this and fears of that.

In any case we never know what is going to happen, and the things we are afraid of never happen, but bad things come all too unexpected, and so good luck is ever what we really need!

Good luck!

I don't have second thoughts about getting married, but what does that have to do with having an affair? Out of that 60%, I'll bet 90% of them don't want a divorce - just a little side action.

No. Why would it? Provided, of course, that I'll get married only if I'm sure that my partner is not going to have an affair. There is probably a great percentage of people which are not married but cheat on their girlfriends/boyfriends too.

Actually no. Not that I don't find any other men attractive...I'm only human, I do. Just as he finds other women attractive.

However, I couldn't imagine actually being intimate (not that you have to go so far as to have sex with someone for it to be cheating) with another man. My husband may not look like Matthew McConaughey or some other famous stud, but I couldn't imagine loving anyone else like I love him.

Besides, I could never look at our 5 week old son and not see my husband in him...they look alot alike. The guilt alone from that would be too much to handle.

51% of all marraiges in the U.S. end in divorce. That number is much scarier than how many of them cheat.
