Corpel punishment is not the answer for proper child rearing practices. What I think needs to be done, that parents take their parenting skills more seriously. If we as parent do not do our jobs, we are creating a problem. I think we need to take more responsibilities towards raising our children.

I believe that these days it all starts with providing children with happy, SAFE homes with responsible parents. When children are raised with a good conscience and since of moral responsibility, they are less likely to commit such horrible crimes. The sad thing is that today's parenting practices are lacking the discipline and values necessary to achieve this. We are letting our children down by lowering our own moral standards and values.

It is an illusion of western thought to even consider that you can achieve SAFETY at anything !! This elludes to us actually having control over ALL the things that are conditional in such incidents AND THAT is a total impossibility !!

People have simply got to understand --- that life has major risks in every single thing that we do -- every day that we get up and start out -- there are risks at every single turn we make-- and it is but the grace of God and the simple numbers game that either takes us through the day unharmed or racks us up as a part of the numbers that day !! There IS NO TRUE SAFETY !! You can live under an all controlling authority--- give up every single freedom to the CONTROL of everything necessary FOR the illusion of safety and still be taken by anomolies by the hundreds !!

Best be teaching people to make the best of the time they have on this earth than to be chasing after the FOG that is called "safety"--- for in this life --- that is all true safety IS !!!

It was a University, very different from the high school setting. Having worked at both, it is almost impossible to institute the security we had in a high school setting. Also, for public institutions like VTech, UVA, U of M-Ann Arbor, UC Berkley, etc, etc etc how would the burden look on the taxpayer?

I don't think situations like these can be solved by government regulation. This kind of hatred and violence is a phenomenon cultured by American society itself. WE AS A CULTURE need to change - to becoming less self-centered and careless, to cease our tolerance for (heck, at points celebration of) violence and domination and focus on teaching and practicing respect for our fellow persons.

You can't. You can try, but kids will always find a way to accomplish what they feel needs to be done. They're a lot smarter than you think.

How about no school. Well, just kidding.
It is hard to stop violence b/c it is happening everywhere. We can only minimize the problems.
