The definition of sin is "to break (one or more of) God's laws". This definition applies whether it is in the homosexual community or not. However, who decides what God's laws are seems to depend greatly on who is doing the asking. And if you are not religious, then the word "sin" can take on entirely new meanings, like "that dress that she wore to the Academy Awards was a sin" - an entirely new meaning that was not originally intended.
It is interesting that in one of your follow up questions that you state that people seem to answer the question based on their own points of view. I've noticed this myself, but what would you expect them to do - answer with somebody else's opinion? I've had questions mis-read and misinterpreted as well, so I know what that can be like.
I've also noted that someone says that you've been on this forum since yesterday and ALL of your questions have been directed at gays. You need to expand your horizons - all gays and no other subjects makes you a dull boy.

Our sin is only putting up with morons like yourself.
I should have totally ignored your question, but I choose to sin by giving it a response.
Seriously now, your God cannot be into your behaviour. I mean seriously, you cruise a gay forum and attempt to give-off your pathetic religious bull - like honestly what's up with that ?
It must really bother you 'ahem' christian wannabes if others do not see it your way. I must say though, you are persistent. Now try to imagine it this way - you are straight - in a world where everyone normal is gay. You know you can't be gay and you are frustrated because people don't see it your way. What do you do to change the world ? Can't answer that one honestly neither huh ? .. I think you may want to choose your words carefully for they may be your last - after all doesn't your God dictate honesty and warning against bearing false witness - don't you just hate the many rules put in place for a simple life?
Enjoy your day

I'm a homosexual man, I'm not a Christian (Deist = Belief in a Deity) but here are my thoughts of what people like to call 'sin':
- It's a sin not to tolerate everyone, from different cultures, religions, sexual orientations etc. So bigotry in any type is a sin in my book.
- It's a sin to have double standards: Many find so OK to show two women kiss on TV, but when two men are kissing, people rage. It's a straight-male dominant society.
- It's a sin to consider us sub-humans, sick or disgusting. We have not chosen this for ourselves. Science backs us up, so it's a sin too to ignore science in some areas and accept it in other areas. (Falls under double standards.)
- It's a sin to ban people from marrying people they love, be it a male or a female.

Uhm, I would say the usual stuff. You'd be surprised how much people from here will tear into someone who's committing adultery. So I suppose that's considered a sin to us, or as close as we get.
Then the usual I guess, murder, other usually bad stuff that's illegal.
We don't consider our sexuality a sin because we don't really get a say in it at all.
Oh, a big one is harassment or prejudice, few people will tear into someone over it quite so much as the GLBT community.

Hm, if I were to debate this with a Christian, I'd tell them to go read the book of Job.
In that story, God destroys a completely faithful and devout man's life. He kills the man's entire family. He covers the man in sores that render him an outcast and always in agonizing pain.
Why did God do this? To settle a pissing contest with the devil because he saw it that important to prove a point. He wanted to point out that even despite all that bad stuff, that this man, Job, would still worship him.
Sounds like a very proud deity. Pride, of course, being one of "the seven deadly sins."
According to my tainted definition of "sin": Pretty much everything God does in that story is sinful.

Sin is a term used in a religious context. Homosexuality is a sexual orientation. One does not have anything to do with the other.
For me being an atheist there is no such thing as sin.

specific churchs, i'm useful, attempt to enforce their will upon homosexuals. Ya understand and that i gotta say, on a similar time as the United Methodist church isn't suitable, as a faith that's accepting of homosexuals. they have not made any assertion on gay clergy... yet it incredibly is entirely a count of time. there are various examples of "reconcilation" UM church homes. Foundry right here in Washington, DC. i understand there's a great one out in San Francisco. besides.... no longer making a sales pitch...trustworthy!

Sin is a religious term, not a homosexual one. I'm not sure exactly what you are asking.
But for me, sin is willfully not following God's rules. Simple as that.

Infidelity. Stealing. Violence. Pedophilia and bestiality. Exploiting and harming others for personal gain. Lying. Hatred and bigotry. Bullying. Turning your back on those that need your help. Torturing animals. Coveting power and dominion over the lives of others.
In other words, the same basic set of values as the straight community claims to believe in once those that are directly attributable to specific religious beliefs, but have no basis in protecting society and the basic rights of others, are removed from the equation.

"Sin" is a subjective religious judgment. It has no ontological status therefore it doesn't really exist apart from being a concept.
I'm atheist. I couldn't care less about what someone else thinks constitutes 'sin'.
