Don't get me wrong, he knows what he's doing...I am just disappointed. I had a blown lower intake gasket and he tore 1/2 my engine apart and fixed it. BUT...now the engine is shaking while the car is idling, the check engine light is now on and it sounds kinda clunky when I drive it. I am so sad. It's a 2002 Chevy Malibu, V6, and I still owe payments on it for 3 more years! What can I do (besides stick a brick on the pedal and drive it off a cliff, I am using that as a last resort)

yeah, he did a good job and he always has before. The car was giving itself gas before. weird. I would turn it on and the rpms would shoot up and then I would put it in gear and they would go down some before he fixed it.

I had a friend who had his engine completely rebuilt but afterward it ran terribly. The guy who rebuilt it did good job but could not figure out the problem. I had him bring it to my friend's station and he fixed it in five minutes. It was the timing. The overhaul mechanic did not deactivate the timing advance before setting the timing. My friend disconnected the advance, set the timing, reattached the advance and it ran like new.
It is probably a dumb little thing. Have another mechanic look at it. My friend the mechanic had another one where a guy's son did a valve job on the car but it ran really bad. Turns out his son installed the distributor backwards. He just pulled it out, turned it around and put it back in. Set the timing and another job well done.

Well, If your intake blew a gasket, more and likely the coolant ruined all the sensors after the intake, thus having the check engine light on. Best bet is to take it to Autozone, or someone you trust to get the codes from the car, and that should tell you what the trouble is. Then you can get it fixed from there. Your Dad did a good job, just need to fix the other problems that intake has caused.

Maybe he could spray some quick start or carburetor cleaner around the intake manifold gasket area to make sure it's sealed well. If the idle evens out when you apply the spray, it indicates that there may be an intake manifold air leak. Read out the computer error codes and see what they indicate.

First, find out what code is stored for the Cherck Engine light.. that will lead you in sort of the right direction... most common mistakes when doing that job are vaccuum leaks, , also, it is possible that one or more plug wires are not routed to the correct cylinder. this is probably a simple fix... more than likely just a matter of somethingnot being plugged in..

There are numerous of thing that can be wrong with your car. Did he made sure the timing belt is right, is the pistons in right positions of the crank shaft? Is the engine secured to car? I suggest tell him and have him or some other mechanic to look at it to be fixed.

You're going to have to take this car to a competent mechanic to get it fixed. Try and not drive it much before you do. Engine work requires a lot of patience and service manual if you're novice. I won't even work on mine much anymore.

it may be as simple as a loose vacuum hose or a sensor that was not connected right look for connections that may be loose and go to a local parts store a lot of them check for which trouble code is turning on the light and may guide you to a cheap fix

Sounds like my dad, he is really good at fixing stuff like this but when it comes to fixing my stuff or if hes not getting paid to do it then he does a half a** job, take it to a mechanic A.S.A.P. before the damage done becomes unfixable.

keep on tight on your balls and are available in the course of an fairly good gamble to talk to him instantly about it. tell him u are having economic issues and cant fairly pay for such upkeep ideally even as your using him someplace on your vehicle so as that its extra worry-loose so that you'll herald regards to the priority. on different hand. Jus imagine of with reference to the concern u have ever presented about on your dad and mom and tink of the dent as karma.

take it to a certified mechanic. if there is something seriously wrong with it then go with the brick on the pedal and a large cliff.
