Fossil fuel supplies are being depleted ! Maybe we have global warming and maybe not. That isn't the question wouldn't you all agree?I think we all can agree to protect our resources and take care of our planet right? Do you like to see garbage by the side of the road? Most of us don't. Isn't it about time we started to think of future generations and do all we can to protect their future?

I totally agree! We need to focus more on finding substitutes for fossil fuel and on recycling. After all, as you've said, the fossil fuels aren't going to be around forever!

Not sure its breaking news but yes I agree. However, I think you need to lighten up just a bit. Our generation has been by far the best to this planet, in terms of individuals. We recycle which none did before, we conserve, our cars get far better mileage than they ever have. When I was kid I remember pulling out of the Tastee Freeze and just throwing all our garbage out the window, we were litterin fools, we don't do that any more, maybe its time to give ourselves a little pat on the back for all the good we have done and things we have changed and get the environmentalist boot off our collective throats.

You are almost on the right track. Yes, we should take steps to reduce our dependence on foreign oil because it is best for the country. Yes, we should take steps to take care of our resources because that is what is best for our country.
What we should not do is just roll over and listen to the junk science that is being used to incite panic and create knee jerk solutions to a problem that may or may not exist. Using the Man Made Global Warming supposed crisis as the basis for drastically reducing our Greenhouse Emissions is wrong and will harm our economy. Don't believe me ask President Clinton why he refused to sign the Kyoto Protocol or the Congress that voted against the treaty in a unanimous vote. Ask the well respected economists that have weighed in on the subject like Greenspan and Friedman.
We can take steps to make the planet a nicer place for all the inhabitants, but scaring people with questionable claims is not the way to do it.

I partially agree with you.
I disagree about fossil fuels, they are building up beneath the ground, and eventually will come up, under a volcano, or whereever and cause an ecological disaster.
Garbage by the side of the road?
Is that peach pit that I tossed on the road going to pollute the asphalt?

Have you ever heard of the idea of PEAK oil? It states that we are going to reach a point where our consumption is greater than that of our reserves. It is a likely scenario as oil is a non renewable resource.
We do need to be looking at alternate fuel sources, not only for the purpose of environment but to prepare for the depletion of our oil reserves. Some of out most necessary industries such as agriculture are highly oil dependent.

fuel supplies are being depleted is "Breaking News?" where have you been? anyway, we're glad you can join us.
the solution isn't alternative fuels. it starts with respecting and having an interest in our communities. we need real neighborhoods that have a sense of identity as opposed to the sprawling developments plopped down between strip malls and highways.

Vicky, the biggest CO2 source is coal. And unless it becomes illegal to do so, they will be fueling power plants with coal 6 generations from now.
