"For more than 300 yrs, Racism has had a precise 'social' function"
A system of false ideas justifying the exploitation and domination of people with a visible degree of melanin in their skin by people whose melanocytes are not so active.
The Concept of 'race' persists in everyday speech as a 'Political' Category.
A category that helps to determine who has power over whom. The ascription of individuals to racial groups is a political act.
Racial labels are political weapons by means of which a dominant group can retain a subject group in subjection.
Having read my offering you see why the likes of Sharpton are angry.
America, socially and politically is a Racist society and Sharpton can NEVER be a racist.... NOT YET.

Don W, With respect.. I would wager I have seen more of the world than you have.. I will also wager a sizable amount of money that I am more financially endowed than you... all this as a black man. Please take my offer up via email. The problem with America today is that we want to run away from our history and the truth and facts... well people like me won't let that happen.
btw.. My business partner is a European Jew and my best and only friend... So tell me about Racism will ya?

Andy, I am glad you put the proviso 'according to reports' because you are accusing The Rev. Al Sharpton of Conspiracy to murder...? Not even the media have tried that one yet to date.

Your response to Don W. hits something important on the head. Our history classes are running away from the truth, so there are children entering our society who have no concept of WHY things are how they are because textbook companies are told to instill patriotism and not dwell on the "ugly" side of our past, though it be the only way to provide context for our world. This is how a soundrel like Columbus ends up with a holiday. This is why Lincoln's motives shift from slavery to "preserving the union."
And isn't it interesting how so much racism stems DIRECTLY from churches? It makes me wonder if Al Sharpton is blind or just trying to keep his enemies close.
If black people got a straight history, they'd find that the Deistic Quakers were their greatest friends, not the crazy Baptists, Methodists or Pentecostals.

That's a pretty narrow definition of racism, which I can only assume is your meager attempt to justify your statement "America, socially and politically is a Racist society and Sharpton can NEVER be a racist.... NOT YET." If you could remove the blinders of hate in yourself then you would see that Sharpton is a racist. For example, remember the Al Sharpton, Tawana Brawley hoax? The Crown Heights riots where rabbinical student Yankel Rosenbaum was stabbed to death by a black mob (Sharpton was egging them on, according to reports)? Or, the Freddie's Fashion Mart mob in Harlem that was told to "boycott that Jew store", by Sharpton and his boys, resulting in 4 innocent people being shot to death (all Hispanic workers) and the building set on fire.
Racism:
1. a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.
2. a policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine; discrimination.
3. hatred or intolerance of another race or other races
Conclusions:
1. Not only white people can be racist.
2. Al Sharpton is a racist.
3. You are a racist.
-Louis Faracon "Nature did not put good in the white man." I guess a hypocritical biggot like you would agree with this remark and put a hatemonger like Faracon up on a pedistal.

Your definition is flawed.
Because, you see, by your definition, Imus is not a racist.
Paraphrasing The Reverend Martin Luther King, racism is the judging of another by his race (or color of his skin), rather than the content of his character.
Thus, Imus is a racist. Those women were not hos.
Sharpton is a flagrant racist. Look up his quotes. He condemned the Duke lacrosse players just because they were "white rich boys attacking a poor black girl", which has been proven to be a lie.
He despises Jews.
He backed Tawana Brawley, a liar, whom he knew to be a liar, for his own advantage in heightening racial tension, even falsely accusing a white man of rape.
He's a liar, and all for his own purpose of flaming racial tension...a flagrant racist.
Addition: Interesting, that you have not yet commented on Sharpton's statements, which are "political weapons by means of which a dominant group can retain a subject group in subjection." So, by your own definition, Sharpton is a racist...unless you somehow twist the words into opining that Sharpton's group does not try to dominate...but was Sharpton not dominating the debate with the Duke lacrosse players?
Sharpton is a flagrant liar for racial purposes...and if you back him...or overlook his obvious lies...then *YOU* are a racist...(paraphrasing the Reverend King) one who is judging by skin color rather than character.

why would desire to it incredibly is Jew vs Muslim, you realize it incredibly is stupid human beings think of like that. a million persons movements would not account for a whole cultures. individually i'm Jewish and that i've got confidence that it is not significant what faith you're, it concerns what type of person you're. costs come from a million person and don't enable a million person talk for all. i'm no longer racist and that i do no longer discriminate on anybody and if anybody concept like that than we ought to in ordinary terms have justice and equilty. seem on the wars we had in the previous and those we've, they are all using racial violence. If the folk in Iraq have been Christain or Cathlic we maximum in all danger would not be in conflict with them, (we which ability US). that may no longer precise, there is not any such words as a miles better racial or religious group. definite, we the folk of this international have distinctive religious ideals and we have fun distinctive holidays yet we nevertheless are those with emotions and intelligence and via we I propose human beings in many situations (no longer a particular religious group) ... So give up the hatred. human beings die for their ideals, the founding fathers of the U. S. died on the grounds that became into the judgment of right and incorrect for the announcement of Independence so the U. S. may be a miles better place and that individuals might have rights. it incredibly is a privilege to have the skill to talk out and say what's on ur strategies and the only united states you're able to do this in the time of is the USA. And basically so which you realize prejudice incredibly ability that one race believes theres is larger than an different race, doesnt propose we could crap on the different group of folk because of the fact they are white, black, yellow, blue, in spite of... it basically ability you honor your race in the past an different yet never does it say we result with adverse movements

I think your reading into it too much.Racism is a natural action to others that are visibly different from you.In the animal kingdom you see its natural as animals stay in their own packs. No interbreeding in fish, lions or any other animal.I don't believe flowers can cross pollinate. Now you want us to believe that its different for us cause 'were smarter,or above that'.Bullocks! Whats your protection Mr. successful Black man when visiting the hood? Living on snob hill with all the Whites i suppose. How comfortable are you on a subway in New York? Politics has nothing to do with racism, its everything to do with color!

Sharpton indeed can be a racist. Racism in it's purest form has no boundaries or contingencies and is certainly not restricted by color. One could allege that Sharpton's desire to get Imus fired was motivated by racism. Surely other talk show hosts and radio personalities have said worse--much worse. Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage, Howard Stern, to name a few, have gone way over the line. Rush Limbaugh, in fact, refers to Barack Obama as a "Halfrican-American". How offense is that? And Howard Stern?

Sorry but you are wrong. Racism isn't specific to one group of people, but rather the preconceived notions by one person or group about another person or group based on race.
You are correct that racism has been used by dominant groups to keep minority groups down, however it is foolish to think that this is the only example of racism that exists.
Keep playing the victim and you will never have a chance at success.

Bullcrap. Sharpton is a racist bigot and he is so because what he does is out of hatred for non-black people plain and simple. Its the underlying hate that makes it racist, not the act or spoken word. People are different, we have different skin colors, we have different languages, we have different work ethics, we have different social values, we have different work ethic, and we have different moral values. Its insane to think that everyone is going to fully accept everyone else and we'll all live happily ever after. How stupid and naieve. People have a right to disagree with the actions of another person, their words, their moral values, their work ethic, thats life get over it. Its when it comes down to just pure mean hatred and nothing else that it becomes a problem.

Any person in a position of power can be a racist and Sharpton is a person in a position of power. I don't think he is a racist, but I think it's incorrect to say that he can NEVER be a racist.
At my first assignment in the USAF our commander was a black man who would only let other black people work on day shift with him. This was clear-cut racism. Eventually, he was removed from his position.
The key ingredient for racism is power.

You are in error in your "assumption" with your third posit in regards to today's society. Like many blacks you cannot "get over" a past history that didn't even involve you directly. You need to have this crutch to justify your own inner anger. America is neither racist socially or politically. Only human individuals can claim prejudice. Your third posit is correct in composition and content but doesn't apply to today's vast majority of American or the World society. The classic definition of civilization is "organized motive". No one cares if you are blue or green. "What you are" takes precedence. You need to get over yourself and your aggrandized perceptions of self pity, focusing blame, and move forward. Wallowing in the dust of history you'll find that every society, culture, race, etc. has been subjugated at one time or another. Do you really think you have a monopoly on persecution? You really have complexes and issues. I'm glad I'm not your neighbor and it has nothing to do with your color.
Humanist my ***.
