As you note, one side of the argument, demonstrated through studies, is that Affirmative Action reinforces among minorities the concept that they cannot achieve anything in life without help from the government. Combined with the nearly free ride of the welfare state, it takes away from the concept of personal responsibility and achievement.
There are case studies showing that people who are accepted due to AA have a tendency to fail due to their lack of qualifications.
I oppose affirmative action, racial quotas and anything that forces organizations to accept one based on the specifics of their genetic makeup and not their individual achievement.

Affirmative Action is racist by any honest definition. At best, it's justifieable racism, on the grounds that it counters current racism and redresses past racism. That's "two wrongs make a right" reasoning, but such reasoning isn't always rejected in the political arena.
My personal opinion is that, even if it was justifieable at some point back in the 60's or 70's, it's no longer so. Racism of the sort it was meant to counter is gone, and redressing the lingering effects of past racism can be done more efficiently through legislastion favoring the economically disadvantaged than by laws favoring specific races.

the place is all this? i've got no longer seen it yet. What I even have seen is human beings warding off speaking bearing directly to the racist pig. The racist pig that many right here proportion the comparable sentiment of their solutions and 'questions' and Rants. i assume that it hurts them to look interior the mirror and notice that racist pig interior the mirror. and then in line with threat it would not injury them in any respect. in line with threat they're happy being that way. Your Rant became into actually bias too. All you probably did became into uplift the Conservative and positioned down the Liberal. you have comprehend thought what or how all Liberals think of roughly Affirmative action or the rest.

It is in fact discrimination, which in and of itself, not right or wrong. I discriminated when I selected by current wife, which thank goodness was the right selection.
In government however, when it discriminates it is WRONG, that task should be left to people.
Affirmative Action is government discrimination, and therefor Wrong.
We have an equal playing field called opportunity. What has happened in the past cannot be changed, it is what it is, any efforts to correct the past are punitive, punishment. Why should one group be punished for something in the past? It is ridiculous.
By acknowledging that others are inferior and victims and need government intervention to have an unfair advantage one must admit that AA is wrong and should not be going on.

I agree, affirmative action is racist and sexist. We give minorities special privlidges and extra opportunities than we give to the historical majority. I think this is not fair. I don't think race, sex, religion, or national origin should be a factor.

What is racist is when there are quotas, such as in school districts who maintain strict racial quotas at schools, displacing sense with diversity nonsense.
What is racist is when different standards apply to different races.
What is racist is when policemen and firemen who have better records and test scores get passed by in order to make the upper ranks more diverse.
Basically, I'm not a big fan of promoting divisive discriminatory practices as a means of achieving equality. It doesn't make any sense.

Affirmative Action still has a need because there are too many left over from the days before the equal rights amendment. Most Americans are now free of most of the old racisms. But there's enough of it still to influence the hiring practices of some companies.
But I'd like to see it less racial toward the white community.

When it was invented decades ago, it was to be sure race did not keep someone down. There were grave difference in the availabilities for minority groups.
It has run its course and now needs to be abolished. It in itself has become racist and is allowing unqualified people to retain and obtain jobs. Don't believe it? Go to the DMV or call a company's Customer Service Dept.
Great service, uh? Try to fire them! HAHAHAHA!

I hate when people make it a black vs. white issue. Ironically, white women are the main beneficiaries of Affirmative Action (but of course they don't want you to know that). People just love to make it a black issue when cleary it involves minorities in general, not just black people.
