I am intending to go to india my and my fiance are british citizens. So under what act exactly do I marry?
Also under the astrology process I cannot see my hubby until1 days after marriage so is it possible if he signs the marriage certificate alone then me alone, so we cannot see each other.

will our details e.gdate of birth, full name, occupation be stated on the certificate before we sign it, and does anyone know any temples in the punjab district where the mandir gives a certificate of 'shaadi' and details of marriage court too

all replies will be appreciated
regards

O.K. As you both are British Citizens the marriage between you two cannot be performed under the Special Marriage Act, 1954 before the marriage officer, as this Act is applicable to only Indian citizens or at least one of them has to be Indian citizen. Yes you can marry according to Hindu form of marriage under the Hindu Marriage Act,1955 if both of you are Hindu by religion, let me specify according to the definition of Hindu, people belonging to Sikh, Jain, & Buddhist religion are also included in this Act. After the said Hindu form of marriage the said marriage can be registered under section 8 of the Act before the Marriage Registrar, who is usually the sub registrar of the district where you get married. Any marriage preformed in a Arya Samaj mandir is registered by the Ary samaj mandir where it is preformed & a marriage certificate to this effect is also issued to this effect, a copy of this certificate can be attached with the application form which you move before the marriage registrar to get such marriage registered under section 8 of the Hindu Marriage Act. So you have actually two certificates of such marriage one issued by the Arya samaj mandir & the other issued by the marriage registrar, but the second certificate i.e. issued by the marriage registrar is the one that has legal recognition for any purpose in India of any where in the world even in your country. General conditions for any Hindu marriage are age (at least 18 years for bride & 21 years for groom), marital status of both (unmarried or divorcee or widow or widower as the case may be), sound mind & not suffering from any mental disorder, should not be suffering from recurrent attack of insanity or epilepsy, should not be within the degree of prohibition & should not be sapindas of each other (which means should not be related to each other as such). If you fulfill these conditions the marriage will be valid. For the purpose of this marriage a proof of age is required at the time of actual marriage as well at the time of its registration. Your passport is a good proof of full name, age, marital status, occupation & your residence for this purpose. At the time of registration of the marriage both the parties give affidavit regarding the performance of the actual marriage & other conditions I mentioned above, along with the certificate as issued by the mandir authorities, & two to three eye witnesses who were presence during the actual marriage. The certificate of such a marriage has photographs of both the parties as well the witnesses. These are the brief procedure regarding your marriage & its registration according to the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955. For more details write to me directly on my email vijay_mahajan5758@yahoo.co.in.

There r no mandirs in Punjab, u can get marriage certificate in Gurudwara only.
Even if there would b 1-2 mandirs in Punjab if u would try to find, then im sure u would not get certificate at all.

Not sure about Aus, but here in the UK... yes definitely. I got married in India, and as long as you also have a court marriage (i.e. get a marriage Cert.), then it is Legal.
