The professor's name was Professor Liviu Librescu, originally from Israel. He had started a lecture on solid mechanics, when the shooting started. According to the NY Daily News, he braced himself against the door while the students jumped out the 2nd story classroom window. He taught aerospace and ocean engineering and has done research for NASA. He died protecting his students.

I'm only 3 hours from that place. I heard. It's been all over the news and the newspaper. And the internet. I heard all about that professer. A student, as he was jumping out the window, turned back and looked at the professor, who was trying to save his students. It's so sad. My best friend goes to V-tech and i was so worried yesterday morning when I first learned of the shootings, but luckily she is fine. Keep them all in your thoughts and prayers

Is that the Professor that survived the holocaust only to die in the land of the free?
Yes, I read about him. I imagine that even in his old age, he must have been thrust back to his time spent in concentration camps and his courage rose up from his youth to give him the strength and honor to sacrifice his own life this way.
It takes my breath away to know that this man survived the damned holocaust, but my nation could not keep him safe.

Yes I think he was a hero-he thought of his students before he thought of himself. He should be known as a hero in this community for his selfless act he did. My prayers for him and his grieving family. He was a holocaust survivor as well-what a great man he was and still is in my heart. I didn't know him of course but I have the same feeling for the heroic act he did yesterday.

If he had a gun, probable no longer. I even have my own animals to shelter and guard. yet i might call the police as we communicate. No animal might desire to ever might desire to pass by using that. i assume I have been given a thumbs down through fact i'm no longer prepared to die for a dogs i don't comprehend? i assume I might desire to describe extra desirable. #a million - If it grow to be my dogs, i might step between it in a heartbeat. #2 - If the guy has a gun pointed on the dogs that i don't comprehend, i might do what i might desire to to stay away from it, yet that would not in touch me getting shot. Now if it grow to be another concern to save a dogs, like taking it far off from an abusive, actually. i won't be in a position to enable you comprehend the way many dogs I even have pulled off the factor of the line to save so as that they does no longer get hit by using autos. fortuitously, i've got on no account witnessed a dogs being abused, yet as quickly as I did, i might do despite i might desire to to get it far off from the owner. Sorry, if human beings do no longer consider that. I in basic terms comprehend i will save so plenty extra dogs if i'm alive than lifeless.
