I am going to my first prom as a freshman, and I'm very excited. I am borrowing one of my sisters dresses, but I need to adjust it to fit. What is the best way to adjust a strapless dress when it is to revealing at the bust? I need to find a way to fix it, any suggestions?

I'd recommend you take it and have it tailored to fit you since it is strapless. My friend and I tried to "adjust" one of my strapless dresses to fit her for a party. We thought we did a great job until she raised her arms above her head and the dress slipped down to her waist (and tried to drag her strapless bra down with it!). That was almost 14 years ago and I think she still turns red at the thought of that night.

Why not fit safety straps? Go to any decent haberdashery store and buy a length of diamonte link or take a length of hem if available and fashion a couple of straps. If it looks awful just remove them and pay to have the dress tailored.
PS.
Have a great time at your prom.

from the inside of the dress take in the seam, starting from the under arm.

If you don't know how to do it, get either your mother or sister to help mark the spot where it needs taking in and take it your local tailor or dry cleaner with a professional tailor
