I am considering relocating to Metropolitian Chicago after the year 2009 and I am considering relocating to either Northbrook or Hoffman Estates? Between the Village of Northbrook and the Village of Hoffman Estates, which village is a better place to relocate to and why?

Depends on where you're working and what you can afford. Both are near lots of big name employers. Northbrook probably has the better school system, although Hoffman Estates isn't chopped liver either. Both are accessible to public trans (Metra, Pace) and expressways (Northbrook is off I-94, Hoffman is off I-90).

Northbrook's housing is more expensive, but once again Hoffman Estates and surrounding communities aren't too far behind in that respect.

I've lived up by the northern suburbs, where Northbrook is, and for a while in the northwest 'burbs, where Hoffman Estates is. I don't see much of a diff either way except for what I pointed out. I'd lean toward Northbrook because I'm more familiar with the area, but I don't see anything wrong living in Hoffman Estates, either.

Northbrook is closer to the tollway, which provides a main artery into Chicago. There's also more businesses located in Northbrook. I'd definitely choose Northbrook.

Northbrook is pricier and I personally think many residents there (and other North Shore towns) think they are better than anyone else. I myself would pick Hoffman Estates, it's safe and it is also close to the expressway (I-90)

Both are good places to live and both offer fine school systems. Both have good locations with good access to roads and transportation.

There is no doubt, in my experience, that Northbrook will be more expensive. This is not to say that HE is a bargain by most standards.

Either are fine is the bottom line.

You've gotten some great answers, and I agree that they have their similarities. Personally I prefer Hoffman Estates. Just because in my opinion it has a homier feel. It seems to be more "down to earth", but I guess that depends on what you're looking for. Either way you can't go wrong. :)
