Absolutly. Why not let them? They have love for each other just as a "straight" couple does for each other. So why should the school not let it happen. They arent going to be able to change them with it and they arent really making a point. And yall could still get in with different people and pair back up once in. So they arent really doing anything wrong.

I think they should be live and let live it is their sexual preference. These days gay people have the exact same rights as straight people, its like asking if opposite sex couples should be able to go to prom together.. In my View i don't see the difference :) Where i come from , gay marriage is legal everything straight people are aloud to do so are gay people, i dont see why two people who are in love or just dating aren't aloud to go. Some guys and girl go in big groups of the same sex and sometimes 2 guys go together not being dates just freinds and that is classed as ok .. but then when you find out they are dating .. they arent aloud .. The way i see it .. if they aren't aloud it's discrimination

There was a court case in my province over this. A boy was denied the right to take his partner, he took it to court and won.

In the end young'ins don't care much, so adults shouldn't force their views on them like that. Let the kids decide what's right for their prom. I think so long as they're not upstaged on their special night by some same-sex couples they'll allow it.

No it's not fair. Yes, they should be allowed to attend!

It's a right of passage.

Not every state has protections afforded to GLBT's, nor is there a Fedeal law protecting GLBT rights...we know this with the current furvor over marriage rights.
So the guy who said it's protected is completely wrong.

GLBT's are still fighting to gain all protections in all states, and if that means starting with high schoolers...heck yes!

Hmmmmmm, interesting question. Assuming that "prom" refers to the Senior Prom, when most students are 17-19 years of age, then I would say these young adults are old enough to know their own mind and make their own decisions. If they want to go with their date they should be allowed to, same sex or otherwise.

I believe that we should be able to go to a prom with the same sex partner if that's what we want...I know people can be so cruel and like to tease and harass so it wouldn;t be to comfortable for the gay couple .what they should do is have them on the same days but different rooms as some kids would be to dis-respectable and try to ruin the same sex couples night forever 'as they would think how some knuckleheads ruined their special night....people need to really grow-up as it;s 2007......good luck

I think it's silly for the school to be worrying about who is dating who. All students should be allowed to buy a ticket for themselves and a guest and it shouldn't matter if the guest is their date, their friend, their grandma, or their personal astrologist. I had a great time at the prom with my bunch of friends and no date. (Though I did sneak my girlfriend in for the last hour or so.)

If gay couples at a public school are specifically singled out & not allowed to bring their partners to a school function that's blatant discrimination akin to saying sorry guys - no black people allowed....

I would raise holy hell as the parent of a child at that school.

? I dont have the answer but I can give myself for an example =when I went to my prom I took a fine girl-but I wasnt gay then and I am now-she was religious but didnt have Jesus forgive her sins or become her savior and best friend as Jesus says to do in John 3-then again neither did I or some of my homosexual friends.

point is now many of my friends are x homosexuals and serving Jesus-and I am gay-meaning i am truely happy having repented of my sins and let Jesus into my heart to save me and become my best friend-with new desires
no I never had sex with that girl-I think if we had I may still be with her lost in sin in a soul tie with her with deamons telling me stuff. for some its to be unthankfull and worship the created rather than Jesus-but whatever

have a great day and I am prayin for you too-and best wishes about the prom and life too.

Many ARE attending their school proms; however, most are closeted going as friends (double-dating). Only the 'brave few' who are totally comfortable with their orientation are going with style, pride and determination not to be shoved aside and not given their right to attend.

Brave souls as such deserve a standing ovation and a pat on the back for not allowing themself be bullied or ridiculed because of their plight.

I myself chose to attend with my boyfriend (his grad) and we were the envy of the evening. Many girls did attempt to get between us, but our special connection prevented it. I only hope that others can be strong in mind'/ body / and heart to achieve the same.

Good luck to those who face this dilemma.

cheers,

bga
