Yes, I first heard of him on the Concert for Bangladesh album. I was looking forward to seeing him with George Harrison but he had a heart attack just before the show. His band still did a set and it was impressive.

six decades of musical virtuosity on the sitar... and one heck of a music legacy through his work and daughters Anoushka (who plays with her dad) and of course Norah (Jones).
My personal favourite is "Passages" made with classical composer Philip Glass : it's a recording of compositions in which each reworks themes composed by the other. Sublime..:-)
