when do you take provera?

I haven't gottten my period for 3 months already, I went to the DR. and she told me to take provera, I remembered her sayin to take it on day 1, but I forgot is it day 1 of period, or just take it and wait for my period to come? bcause if I have to wait, is going to be a long time on my own. Help!?!?!??!

You can also check with your pharmacist but I would definitely go ahead and call the dr back to let them know that you need clarification on the instructions.
