lol...for sanitation, they usually do shave, because hair is so easy to harbor infection,...and it gets in the way,...so you might want to shave yourself, if you are especially shy about it...it is much cleaner, and if they have to give stitches, for instance, they don't have to go back and waste valuable time shaving...and congratulations!!!....PS...in MY time, they always shaved...I am surprized to hear now, that they give you a choice

This is solely personal preference. Some women feel sexy by shaving the pubic hair. Others shave it in a attempt to feel more clean and hygienic. Some women only trim the pubic hair. Some women don't bother I see a wide Spectrum of this and if I had to say a percentage, the breakdown would be as follows per age group: 15-18 98% shave 1% trim 1% do not shave 19-25 90%shave 9% trim 1%do not shave 26-35 80% shave 17% trim 3%do not shave 36-45 46% shave 50% trim 4% do not shave 46-55 32% shave 64% trim 4% do not shave 56-70 8% shave 12% trim 80% do not shave 70+ as a rule doesn't apply

The doctor won't care as long as the area is clean and hygenic. I'm sure that they have seen all different sorts of pubic hair on women giving birth. Pubic hair does not affect a woman's ability to give birth, unless of course its an absolute jungle blocking the vulva.

No, not at all. FYI: that 'practice' originated in the 1800's (I believe) when poor, street people who lived in big cities gave birth in hospitals (instead of at home, like the well-off). They shaved them to avoid the spread of pubic lice. Eeeeww!

Well.... it is your choice really. When I plan to give birth I will be hair free! lol Just for the fact that it is just cleaner to me. Some women don't shave or anything and go all natural! I hope that everything goes well!

Nope. And not to freak you out but you are very likely to defaecate (poo) as you are giving birth so a little pubic hair is the least of their concerns.

No, women have been having babies for centuries. The idea of shaving one's pubes, are a relatively recent phenomenon.

Years ago they shaved you when you went into the hospital, today they do not. You don't have to do anything. Just have your baby. Good luck
