I don't. Just like the old west, people get terrified by one armed person.

I think that if the students were allowed to carry guns, this guy would not have made this act. It seems like he wanted a high body count. He could not achieve this if he knew there was a very high chance he would be shot and killed within seconds of pulling out his gun. Even if he did decide to do it despite the unfavorable odds, at least one of the students or faculty members would have had the courage to counter his attack with an equal attack.

Well certainly if the right person was there and armed they could have saved some of the victims.I learned in the Military that not all people with guns will use them.It all comes down to being in a life or death situation and how you will respond.

So, instead of someone at least having a chance to take the guy down, you think it's better that they just waited for him to shoot them.

There are states that allow people to carry guns, and you do not have the daily shoot-outs over parking spaces that the liberals keep saying would happen if people had guns.

It wouldn't it might have not been as bad but it still would have happened. I do not think even if it were legal to carry a gun on campus I do not think most students would bring it with them. Blacksburgh is not the ghetto and also when you are going to class you care more about did i bring the right books and notes not if i remembered to pack my glock.

That's the first thing I thought. "If every student in that classroom had a firearm on them, the guy would have been shot dead after his first or second victim." Here's a better question though... If you knew that every student in the classroom was armed, would you try to go on a shooting rampage in that classroom?

This guy obviously did not want a shootout, as he killed himself before being confronted by police. He simply wanted to kill people, and defenseless people are easy targets.

Prevented it? No. Stopped it from turning into 32 murdered? Absolutely. After seeing innocent people get shot I would have risked death to stop him - just so I could get close enough for a good shot.

hindsight is 20/20.

I believe that CCW training should be offered on College Campuses. If a student is trained and certified then perhaps the gun may take one person out but not a 2nd one.

The only way this could have been prevented is if someone knew he planned to do it. More guns would have only made the situation worse.
However, I do think the campus should have been surrounded by police and evacuated immediately. Now THAT would have prevented something.

One armed & trained teacher could have saved the lives of most of those people who were injured or murdered.
