I've noticed that people give a "thumbs down" to a correct answer. These are not opinion based questions, these are answers that are facts where no opinion is involved, typically in science, math, physics and engineering.

Something that I've been finding is that many people are no longer concerned with either truth or facts. It gets into the relative mindset of , "there are no absolutes."
As crazy as it may seem, 1 + 1 = 2 is not necessarily a valid formula for these people.
Critical thinking is in the dumpster. Even if presented with evidence that their presuppositions are incorrect, or at least questionable, they seem to just shut down as a defense mechanism of some sort.

I once saw a question about whether anyone else (other than the asker, that is), ever ran down the page giving thumbs down to all the answers. Some people are feeble enough to think it's amusing to do that. What gets me is the people who give a thumbs-down when the question asks you to give an opinion. Just because they don't agree with the point of view expressed, this doesn't make it a bad answer.

It's just a troll, that doesn't bother to even answer, they just go from question, to question, and thumbs down everyone that did. Unfortunately, this happens a lot on this site. But then again, it's just a thumb, and doesn't really mean much.

I answered a "What's your favorite color" question, got THREE thumbs down, and wondered, what the hell's wrong with green?

I agree, it's poor sportsmanship. Some babies think they should have the Best Answer, even when they are wrong or late.
