synovial inflamation (swelling of the knee cartilage) more than likely caused by an imact of some kind maybe you didnt notice it at the time or it could be caused by an infection which has recently been around your knee and caused damage but been destroyed by your immune system if its realy bad see your doctor but if you can put up with it it may sort itself out

I always answer people' knee questions on here as I just had my 13th surgery so I am a seasoned knee injury veteran. And I will tell you what I tell everyone else. See an orthopedic (bone and joint) doctor. He/she will discuss your symptoms with you and take xrays and an mri scan. The xrays will probably show nothing, but the mri will give you your answers. The knee is a very complicated joint with 4 main ligaments and tons of cartilage including the meniscus. People on yahoo answers will give you their best guess and say "I had the same thing!" but you will never know without getting images of your knee taken. I am very knowledgeable on the subject, but I wouldn't begin to tell you what is going on without looking at images of your knee. So please, see a doctor and get it checked out....the earlier the better....you do not want to be like me and have 13 surgeries and huge scars...trust me. Good luck to you.

I have the opposite problem an immense (unbearable pain) when my leg is straight for any length of time. An xray showed that I have 'iregularities in the knees' but it wasn't as susepcted arthiruts. I would suggest you see your doctor to get an xray before starting to worry..

Your knee probably has to be scoped. Thats how the pain in my knee started...several years ago. Then it started to give out while i was standing. It is not as painful as people make it sound to be. six weeks and you will be running again!
