Universities like VA Tech would have to increase tuition so high to cover the cost of security that would have prevented this event that nobody could afford to attend.
Electric fences with razor wire surrounding the campus. Armed guards behind bullet proof glass at all gates and roving patrols 24/7 with strict curfews after the last class of the day.
Sounds like a wonderful learning environment.

I hope so. I am always shocked at how easy it is to go on a college campus. While parents pay 35 000 at private universities, their children are unprotected from robberies, as well as dorm penetration( usually since some students themselves will prop open doors that are supposed to be locked) I think there should be some kind of gate to authorize admission onto a campus just like most office buildings have now and persons who have no real reason to be there should be denied admission.,

for a while maybe but doubt it!!
A few years back a guy was caught on time before committing an attack to a community college (DeAnza) in Cupertino, CA. I have not seen much of a change then and I think there have been other incidents accross the world and I haven't seen any changes and if any very minor!!

Of course because the people who runs the school woundn't want that tragedy to happen so they would increase their security and all others should follow for that not to happen.

No, they will raise tuition to get more scholarships for Chinese or Korean students to come here, to show their "open mindedness".
