Mommy to 7 has it right in all aspects.

Look at Mary Magdalene.

Matthew the tax collector.

Zaccheus.

Those with leprosy-- it wasn't even their fault!!

--Just to name a few.

These people, while being rejected by the people, took faith in what Jesus had in store, and look at what they became- faithful followers of Christ, living a life of happiness.

Even those with leprosy were called to go and sin no more, and if you read the Bible, you'll see they were CURED OF THEIR ILLNESS!! (how cool is that?!?)

They were called to sin no more, and they changed their lifestyles because they had faith.

You need to have faith, too.

Being gay isn't a sin, and you're being called to a chaste life. God has wierd ways of showing what he has planned for you. Embrace it.

You have a calling that is amazing beyond words.

Sure, people are going to "bully" you, but we all have something that comes off as a weakness, but in reality its a pure strength. Besides, who doesn't get bullied in high school?

You can do it!

How things have changed since I was in high school. At the same time, I was in an all boys Catholic school close to Chicago - not Jesuit, but run by the Holy Cross fathers. Do be careful as teenage guys can be cruel, especially when they may be threatened by or about sexuality. I remember guys bragging about how many girls they laid. So much did I want to say something about how much I wanted to ...... well. These days more and more Catholic colleges and universities are opening to GSAs - such as the University of Portland in Oregon from which I have one of my degrees. At the same time, their sister school, the University of Notre Dame in Indiana is more than hard about being gay (no pun intended). However, that didn't stop my from having some fun when I studied there. Go for it, but be careful. I respect what you are doing.

If you want to learn more about the GSA, go to www.glsen.com to learn the rules. Also, if your school still won't allow one, then I can contact the AFD or something like, can't remember at this moment and I can get a free lawyer for you. It'll be no problem. Under any circumstances can you be denied the right to promote a GSA at your school!

Also a little side note, I'm in the GSA also so I can help out a little too. Just IM me if you want at dragongrahamviper@yahoo.com.

Jesus accepted everyone...but He also told them to go and SIN NO MORE. Being gay isn't a sin- but having gay sex- or any sex outside marriage IS A SIN.

Homosexual acts go against the natural moral law- one needn't even bring God into the argument.

There is no place for the group you propose in a Catholic school.

I thought you had it right. In the bible Jesus loved everyone. I think you're showing great initiative. You get a star! As for what to do, honestly just put up a fuss. Raise questions, alert local media, they LOVE discrimination stories. You'd be surprised how fast they back down. God knows the Catholics don't want MORE bad press. Good luck hun, Keep it up!

Hey - I was an out lesbian in a Catholic school. I wasn't supposed to talk about it and I was told that my sexuality was a calling to celibacy. Right.

Honestly, since you're attending a private institution, you really don't have any legal rights here - Gay students Pepperdine (a religious college) tried to start a group called "students against homophobia" and the administration wouldn't let them.

Good luck though.

The Bible things is totally correct Jesus teached us to love everyone as they were. The bes tthing you could do is get an appointment with the school board and get ready to defend your point of view and to attack them. The best attack you can make is letting them know how they ar enot following the love rule and tolerance one. Also another thing that can help you back up is try to collect signatures and onemore thing is if you can talk to apriest, and explain him all this let him know your point of view, if you can get a priest to get on your side things will go more easily, Good luck on this and keep me posted.

I have a 16 year old daughter that's a member of the GSA at our local (public) HS. She does get a lot of grief for her membership and I feel for you hun. I have a great website for you to check out:

goodasyou.org

The individual that runs this website is very nice, refuses to play "nice" but does not get nasty. Send him an email and I'm sure he'd be more than happy to give you some ideas - good luck

I applaud your efforts but I hate to say this but you won't win on this one.

Catholic schools will claim that since to them this is a religious issue they can invoke the First Amendment (Freedom of Religion).

This type of thing has gone to court before (Boy Scouts) and the outcome is usually in favor of the organization objecting to formation of a gay oriented club/organization or even inclusion of gay members).

Try to connect up with a public school (non-religious based) and see if they will allow you to form a GSA in their facilities

Good Luck.

Your school is entitled under the constitution to have its rules based on religious principles and a club promoting sodomy is against them. If you keep pushing this you could be expelled. Whats a gay kid doing at a christian school anyway.?Just go to another school.
