Because you are the dad? If you are the dad you should absolutely be there to see the baby born and to sign the birth certificate.

If you are the dad and know and trust you are... then sign it.. she is probably just wanting to make sure that while things are good now... you sign your name and are responsible in case things arent so good later.... and for the babys sake to have a daddys name on the paper....

If your not sure if your the dad and could possibly not be... She is probably doing it because your the most stable she knows.. or she actually thinks you are... Have the hospital perform a dna test... if shes on welfare... they will pay for the test... if she is not on the system then there will be a bill later for it... ask the hospital staff....

good luck... hope you get the result your hoping for...

You are signing the birth certificate to prove that you are the biological father and could be liable for the upbringing and financial responsibility for that child.

I'd listen to more women then men on this question. Women are saying it's your responsibility or the other end she's cheating. I guess you need to find where the trust is. But in a mature lovely relationship, she's asking to be by her side!!!

When you sign, you are making it official that you are the father, and that you will help take care of the child.

so you can hold financial responsibility for the child. I couldn't put my son's father on the birth certificate unless he was there so that could be it too.
