well 60/2.5 is the same as 60/(5/2), which is the same as (60*2)/5 . This simplifies to 12*2= 24

To get rid of the decimal, multiply 2.5 by 10 (or move the decimal one place to the left) to make it 25.
You then must do the same to the 60, giving you 600.
So the problem 600/25 will give you the same answer without having to deal with the decimal.
25 is a factor of 100, it goes in 4 times. Since there are six 100s in 600, multiply the 4 * 6 and 600/25 or 60/2.5 = 24.

60 ÷ 2.5 = 60 ÷ 5/2 = 60 • 2/5 = 120/5 = 24
even better,
60 ÷ 2.5 = 240 ÷ 10 (multiplying both by 4) = 24

Divide by 10 to get 6.
There are six 10's in 60.
But each 10 is made up of four 2.5's.
So since there are six 10's in 60, there must be 6x4 = twenty-four 2.5's in 60. So the answer is 24.
Oh, you wanted the steps for dividing decimals??? Ask your teacher.

Divide both by 10 to get to 6/0.25.
Dividing by 1/4 is the same as multiplying by 4, so 6 x 4 = 24.

i would divide 60 by 5, which would give me 12, and then times that by 2 (2*2.5=5)
60/5=12
12*2=24
only because i find dividing by 5 to be much easier, in this case.

I was going to write what T F wrote, above. That's the way I would think about it.
You should really, really, really learn how to do long division. I am an engineer -- I have some very fancy calculators, but I still do long division occasionally, because sometimes it's faster than trying to find a calculator (when I'm not at my desk) -- and it's a good check to make sure you punched the numbers in correctly into the calculator.
