Video games of the first-person-shooter variety undoubtedly increase the effectiveness of recent mass murderers in the US. The human has an instinctive, even unconscious, aversion to killing another human, and the game conditioning helps overcome this. This kind of conditioning is used in the military to train for combat; but military training also includes restraint and discipline. Young people who play these games for fun don't have this.
Of course, the vast majority of people who play these games have enough sense not to kill people in real life. But if somebody wants to, the games can help them train for it.

I'm not sure what the question is, but its correct. Its like sex, it sells. Many groups blame the media and that is true if you expect them to self regulate. But these folks only provide what the public wants. Unfortunately, its a spiral which likely cant be controlled. In effect, its profits (capitalism) that drive the spiral.
I remember the first movie I was sitting through when some one said "F----". I was totally startled. Now, its said so often that its hardly startling.
Media and other things get attention by pushing the envelope. And hence goes the spiral.
Right wing groups try to wage a culture war, but then we find they do the same thing as the rest of us. I wish I had an answer and I wish even more we, as a culture, could find an answer.
If often wonder if our culture could evolve like the early Romans who would go to the coliseum to watch bloody combat and death. To me, its not beyond belief. Those folks were humans like the rest of us. I watched a half hour of "cage fighting" and saw a guy get a ankle kick to the temple that could have killed him. The crowd roared. Ill never watch it again. Too much for me.
Sex and violence are fundemental to the human psyche. Its only culture, civility, morals and laws that hold it back. As the envelope gets pushed, expect to see more.

///The guy who made up MyBuddy(Addictive Games) is
my hero. I love this game, for many
different reasons, one attached to your question.
Anybody, I mean ANYBODY can play it.
You don't need to have a fantastic video card.
all you see is this little guy(like Bill Gates),
get blasted all around.
This online game is not absolute
bloodfest, 3D gore that Tarantino should pay homage to.
MyBuddy is not high tech video, but you can get excellent
sound effects. Now people demand and are
willing to pay whatever they can for gaming
devices. And a lot of the games are violent
search and destroy games. They get as
close to the real thing as you can get with the
latest hardware and software. There are definite
psychological affects, ranging from teasing your
dog to killing relationships and unchecked anger.
I have heard that KillBill was a bloodfest, a love
story, and that it was boring. Well, you knew you
had to see KillBill, come hello r hi water, because
of ALL THE ADVANCED POSITIVE REVIEWS
of that flick. But back to the question(Dr. Demento
aka Talk Show Host), yes "we" are more
products of traditional media. But so far
the Internet is more a product of the public, instead
of vice versa.//////The Internet users, e.g. GNU users
or affiliates, have a lot more power over what any
government or any company(especially media companies)
has. Most mirrors for downloads are in countries other
than USA.(?)/// My answer is, that we become more
self-impowered, using our heads and figuring out our
own nonviolent answers to problems we have here
at home(meaning, specifically, one of the 50 states
in North America.

in all likelihood ninety 9 out of 100 youngsters are literally not quite affected by it negatively and perchance it truly is useful as you want to be uncovered to it finally. yet obviously there are those "a million in 100" youngsters that take it the incorrect way because they are mentally defective or don't realize that videos and video games are in basic terms videos and video games, no longer a mirrored image of genuine existence. maximum childrens do not forget that video games and videos are not genuine and easily are there for leisure. i do not imagine the NRA is responsible, and some have began to demonize them unfairly. we've a suitable to guard ourselves with weaponry. maximum human beings also do do not forget that something about guns, they in basic terms listen "attack weapon" and on the instantaneous bypass off. even if a plausible shooter won't be able to get an a semi-computerized rifle (one set off pull, one bullet), they could nevertheless get a pistol (also semi-computerized), so i do not see a element in banning attack rifles, highly at the same time as the AR-15 (the attack rifle utilized in Colorado and Connecticut) jams so genuinely.

You got it. And yet the Media avoids the obvious connections that it contributes to mass murders.
There are better books, but "The Hidden Persuaders," by Vance Packard aptly demonstrates the LIE that you are responsible for your own actions in that the Media is capable of making you think in a way without you realizing it.

Source of all Violence: "Law worketh Wrath".
Law: sometimes destructive, not constructive.
Grace: always constructive, never destructive.

Violence also begets Violent Weather.
USA has more of both than other nations.
