What new hard drive or drives can I install in a Dell Optiplex GX110

to answer this question for you go to dell support website and ask there I don't think a modern harddrive will run in a old system,,,

the old systems had a 40 pin cable connector todays hard drives have a 80 pin cable connector this makes the faster

Any new "IDE / ATA100" hard drive will work with your older computer that has the 40 pin IDE connector on the motherboard - the drive will just run at the slower speed that your motherboard supports.

The newer SATA type drives are not supported by your motherboard. Some really big drives may come with a PCI adapter card which plugs into a PCI slot on your motherboard to allow the newer / faster drive to work - this is another option if you really want the newer SATA drive.

If you buy a SATA drive without an included SATA adapter card, you can still get an adapter card (These "Promise" cards are the best) for the newer SATA drives. It would cost a little more, but you would be able to use this drive in your next PC and you could bring all your music and photos to your next computer with ease:
