If the East is known as the 'Orient' than what are the North, South and West known as?

West is Occident (as mentioned above), north and south arre in English called North and South. The East is sometimes called the Levant as well, but that is disappearing (and refers more particulary to the area of the world that Lebanon is in). For scientific purposes there are two possibliities: the north is boreal, the south is austral as in aurora borealis and aurora australis, or the north is septentrionalis and the south is meridionalis. This last survives in the Midi of France, which is in the south.

When one is comparing the Orient with the western world the western world is called Occidental, but there aren't names for the North, South, and West. In fact, it's not even really the East that is called the Orient; it's only the far East. For an incredibly boring discussion of this that lasts for more than 300 pages you'll probably want to check out the book Orientalism by Edward Said. But don't, because it's awful.

It's not East the direction that is known as Orient, it's eastern countries - generally Asia. The Western world is occasionally called the "Occident", but this is unusual. There are other names for parts of the world, such as Anglosphere (Countries that speak English), Sinosphere, (the group of countries and regions that are currently inhabited with a significant number of people of Chinese descent) and various others. These names do not split the world however, a country or area can be part of one or more of these names
