You are a thinker, that I can see. You raise some good talking points.

The bottom line, if you read most of the posts here, it is uninformed individuals with their "Bush is the Devil" or "The Republicans are taking my right to smoke pot away" types of rants. There are also the "Liberals Sux" and "Libtards" posts. None of this is anything more than people trying to inflame or be nasty.

In the post that have factual based discussions, at least half of the answers will reference the above responses. The other quarter will be a one line party line response that may or may not have anything to do with the question. The last quarter will actually try to come up with a good opinion based on fact.

So, just like in elections, only about 25% turn out with an informed decision. Many people in this country are to lazy to seek out facts and rely on sources like MTV, Myspace, Comedy Central for their "news".

The dumbing down of America is the politicians way to control you. They feed you what they want you to know. They do not want you to be involved, as they would then be held accountable.

Look what all political campaigns have become in the last 40 years? Plenty of bashing the opponent with very, very little mention of what the bashing candidate actually plans to do to bring about positive change.
