I don't think there is much that they can do. Maybe add a safety section during orientation would help a little. The thing is that some people are always going to feel alienated, depressed, stressed, or whatever crazy reason that would possess someone to do something like that. I think that maybe parents and teachers should stop putting SO much pressure on people to be the best in college cause it just makes it harder and more stressful.

It's hard to say. There have been so many school shootings in the last several decades and the same questions arise after they happen. Why did this happen? What should be done? It just keeps happening no matter how hard people try to avoid it. I think it's because the world is full of evil and no matter how many people want to help, there are still the few bad apples.

very difficult question to answer. You can't arrest someone justbecause you "think" they may do something crazy. If no threats were made and no report to police if the treat was made, there really is nothing they could have done. This is a very serious problem and was a horrible tragedy. My prayers go out to them and their familys and to this whole nation. If someone wants to harm someone, especially when they have no concern for their own life, it's almost impossible to prevent it. GOD HELP US ALL!

Yes, my daughter is a freshman in college in another part of Virigina. College campuses are very open and it would be so easy for bad things to happen. I hope this will be a wake up call and there will be increased security measures and distaster procedures put in place.

I think what states should do is not make guns so readily available to people. Decrease the number of gun shops. Stop selling guns and ammunition at Walmart. It's entirely to easy for people to have access to guns in certain states.

They should have a siren alert similar to a tornado warning. Such as 3-short sirens, means students should be in lock down, etc.

Metal detectors at unlocked entrances and security guards. Sadly it's the only way, no one gets shot up at the airport.

In this day and age it is not safe to walk out your front door. If you do and something tragic happens then everyone is very quick to "point the finger" at "someone" else
