The fact that we can't claim victory in any major conflict since WW2 (Korea, Cuba, Vietnam, the war on communism (newly converted Venezuela after a stint of Democracy comes to mind) or that many americans disagree with the war?

"Emboldening" is such a PR mentality. The appearence of stupid, uber-confirmist group think vs. actual discussion and dissent makes no difference.

The ability to kill US troops and take out helicopters while we flail at this game of "wack-a-mole" would seem to be more emboldening than any comments in our papers or on our TV shows, most of which an insurgent or terrorist will never see anyway.

I'm not criticizing your question, by the way, just the talking point, which I don't think you were necessarily defending.

It's other things, I think, that emboldens our current enemy. When Clinton suddenly pulled our forces out of Mogadishu after 19 of our soldiers died there in the biggest cluster**** he could've created (by not sending enough people to get the job done in the first place), Osama Bin Laden cheered Mohammed Farah Aidid for defeating America.

It's little things like that, where Muslims claim some small victory, that embolden them the most. The fact that the war is currently so unpopular is just something they use to play on our sympathies and get what they want.

Korae wasn't a win??? Tell that to the free society of South Korea! Seems to me that he North invaded and took over Soul, and we kicked their butt back where they belong! WIN! There was no conflict in Cuba other than the missle crisses and Kennedy called their bluiff on that one too! WIN! Vietnam depending on how you look at it (I was there) was a win in numbers only, our 50,000 to their 3 million! Thanks to Johnson and McNamara it should have turned out differently...Draw (I'll give you that)! Many American Agree with the war! What embolden the enemy the most is morons like you!

The fact that president bush is leading the military emboldens the enemy more than any other factor.

Remember the Alamo, when Santa Anna's army was 1,800 strong and the Anglo rebels were 188 strong?

See the parallels?

LOL

I think its important that we learn from the past and are careful to support are troops in time of war and stay the coarse. Once youve started a mission you need to complete it and see it through, otherwise, you have secured defeat for yourself.

These idiot democrats that have taken oaths of office running around calling our troops nazis, terrorists, even calling them stupid, and crticizing their own country on foreign soil undermine our war efforts, undermine our troops, and give the enemy hope and an advocate in our own govt.

starting a war with a ME country and occupying that country without a legitimate cause has been the biggest recruiting tool in the history of terrorism. What a crazy mess.
