my partner and i have been seeing each other for 1 yr now, we are near our forties, we dicided not to get married but would like to do something that seals our commitment to each other. any ideas that is different from the normal engagement.

Buy eternity rings at the local jeweler. This way you still have your ring, but not an engagement / wedding ring. Plus eternity rings are gorgeous. Also, you can do a ceremony, but have a friend or trusted colleague do it for you rather than a preacher / priest.

Instead of engagement rings give each other commitment rings. They say I love you and don't want anyone else but are a step behind getting hitched. Celebrate the occasion with a romantic meal and if you have some spare cash, a nice stay in a hotel for the evening would be lovely. I love happy couples and I wish you many more happy years together.

You can get a blessing done at the registrers office it's like a marrige ceremony but it's just a blessing for your relationship
