I already carry a weapon for self defense (and have for years). But I think I need one in a higher caliber, and carry a little more ammo.
I am sorry that there were no armed citizens that could have stopped this terrible tragedy sooner.

I have a daughter (6 months old) and I am currently an engineering student at Jacksonville University. I've always been concerned about my safety, and the safety of my daughter. You truly aren't safe ANYWHERE these days! Also, when I graduated high-school, my school choices were Virginia Tech, or SCAD. I ended up not going to either, but I could have very well been amongst the slain at VT. It's disturbing.

I live 5 minutes from Va Tech campus. This has effected everything in our area. This community is so sheltered from the rest of the world. It just brings so many issues home that we thought we were protected from. I think every public place in the new River Valley should use this opportunity to establish a plan and process for how to handle an event of this magnitude. I can happen anywhere, i mean anywhere if it happened here.

I think that this along with the Lubys incident which occured in my hometown, Columbine and any other massacre, should open the eyes of EVERYone. Crime has the same humiliating effect on students attending technical school as it does on the students attending high school in the poorest slums in our country. It's neither a black or a white thing. Its a death thing. Crime sees no color. I beleive that God allowed this to happen not b/c He's some mean God that wanted to see 30+ people lose their lives, but He allowed it so that we as not just the black race or just the white race but as the AMERICAN race can see that guns and violence is everywhere and that we can't keep blaming these problems solely on the blacks or the whites. Each and every man is accountable for his/her OWN actions.

I am very, very sad about the whole incidents. I know something is wrong and missing somewhere . Some measures have to be implemented but hopefully able to prevent such happenings again in the near future.
Life is previous. 33 young and talented people got killed. This is no a joking matter. I fear..........same time will happen again.
