I read the following story today, and found myself sickened by what I am reading. Especially since our government has a hard time passing budget bills to support our troops overseas. You can bet that there would never be a scenario where their own spending might be suspended due to lack of budget agreement!

I wonder if a watchdog group shouldn't gain rights to a website called - wastefulspending.com maybe? If we don't keep them honest, nobody will!

I find myself outraged at almost everything our government does (or doesn't do). Both political parties sold themselves to special interests long ago. And there's so much inefficient bureaucracy. And we're spending so much money that we don't have. The federal deficit will become a huge problem, but not for THESE politicians! So why should they care!

Our biggest problem is that most Americans are apathetic and don't care as long as they get some money now. Politicians are, ideally, supposed to look at the big picture and make the right decisions for us. But instead, they make the right decisions for big businesses, unions, and anyone else with a lobby.

I try not to pay attention anymore, as I don't need the stress.

Added note: And of course, there are the boneheads out there, like the guy right above me, who think the problem is partisan and that THEIR party is free of corruption. It's both parties!

Added question: Why can't it be seen as "supporting our troops" to demand that they be brought home? Couldn't you also say that President Bush is the one who isn't "supporting our troops" because he promises to veto the war spending bill if Congress doesn't send it to him the way he likes it?

Yes, and it has been going on a long time also hidden spending.
As reported in 2003 by the Citizens Watchdog group in Washington DC. As part of that fiscal year Pentagon budget $150,000,000 was sent to a university in Great Britain ( no name given ) for the purpose of stem cell research. Of Course that was signed by King Bush who constantly goes on record as being adamantly against stem cell research.

Lets be honest the number one reason to be an elected official is the power and fringe benefits. Does anyone think these clowns are in it for the good of the American people. I think the altruistic few would number 10% of the total of elected officials.

Time to give the power back to the people and we should start demanding voting in these absurd expenditures.

And yes this goes for both parties.

Yes.

I am.

And I blame Bush.

Never said I didn't.

I just said that the alternative party would spend just as much.
