At the pet store I work at we combine the bettas in with tetras, mollies, danios, platies and swordtails. They get along fine. But everyonce in a great while you'd get a nasty swordtail or a nasty danio that would munch on the poor betta's tail.
I wouldnt worry about your 3 platies not getting along with a betta. I think it would work out great. Besides, your tank will look really pretty with the betta.

I have kept bettas witha wide variety of fish over the years including several livebearers. Honestly I can't remember if that includes platys but most likely so. A betta will be fine in a tank with Platys most of the time. Every so often you get a betta that is a bit territorial and will harrass soimething as peaceful ad the typical platy. Also, you can get a Platy that things it's a tiger barb or something that will nip and the betta, but those things are rare. The vast majority of the time you'll have no problems at all. Hope that helps

I thik it should be fine - right now I have my betta with a dwarf frog and a school of tetras. I am also thinking of geting a 3 pack of platys to complete my tank - so I will let you know how it works out if I get my platys before you get your betta :)

Awesome that you don't stick your poor betta in a bowl. Bettas do well with fish that don't also have long flowing tails that they may mistake for another male betta, or fish that are faster than the bettas and may nip at them, like tetras. Cories and african dwarf frogs do well with bettas. I have never had a platie, but they're tails aren't that flowing. Good luck!

I have had a Betta in with different kinds of fish like zebras, platties, mollies. He did fine. The reason Bettas are usually kept alone is because the swim so slow they make for an easy target. I don't approve of anything being in a small bowl, so I had my Betta in a 10 gal tank with my other fish and they did fine, until I put frogs in there. The frogs ate everybody.

Did you merely upload all the fish?? Wait a rapid time till the nipping gets truly undesirable. I actually have 2 platies with my betta and that they are nice mutually. wish I helped! edit: some thing I actually have tried that works is catching the fish it is being agressive. convey the internet to the actual of the tank. make confident the internet remains in water. permit the fish interior the internet for 15 to twenty minutes. It has labored for me.

I have a beta in my tropical community tank with black skirt tetras and swordtails. He does just fine. It took him awhile to adjust to being in a tank with currents (the filter and bubble wall), but he gets along with everyone.

yeah, a betta would go quite nicely with platies. I kept them at one point and there was no bother at all to be honest. The only thing that i must remind you about is that you must make sure that you do not keep two male bettas in a tank. I would suggest maybe one other female: just to keep him in good company. Hope this was a good help for you. :]
