Attempts at engineering languages (like Esperanto and stuff like that) are doomed to failure. I guess Basic English is okay so long as you just view it as a stopgap--something you can learn quickly to get you by for the time being

The greatest problem is getting native English speakers, and those who already know the language, to restrict their own vocabulary.
