Everyone gave a lot of good tips. However, you identified your own problem.... RAM.

256MB of RAM may have been ok to use a few years ago, but not anymore. 512MB is the new 256MB. You need to upgrade. Why? Multitasking while surfing the net uses a lot of your resources. Webpages have different multimedia requirements and require more or less memory than others.

All of those nifty programs you have utilize a lot RAM, as well. You could very well have software conflicts going on. Ad-Aware SE is sufficient for both adware and spyware. This utility eliminates both and has a high user satisfaction rate. The other two spyware killers are overkill. This especially applies if any of them are active spyware/adware killers that block them in real time format rather than erasing it after it's already on your system.

I congratulate you on correctly following the "speedier computer" protocol with the registry cleaner, defragmenter, etc... Realize that there has been no significant evidence that cleaning out your registry drastically improves performance. It's an old wives tale that has become fact somehow. Read PCWorld or go to their website for more info. Their website also has support and awesome tips to help you out further. Check it out.

However, trust me when I say that you need to boost your RAM. 256MB more doesn't cost too much and the rewards outweigh the price. Good luck!!!

Here's some special recipe to speed up your computer:

1.Remove Unnecessary Software.
You may have a bunch of software packages on your hard drive that are no longer needed, or they were gratuitously installed when you downloaded some other package. Toolbars, file-sharing programs, free email enhancers, online shopping "companions" and download managers are notorious for this practice. These uninvited guests can put a big drag on your startup time, cause web pages to load slowly, and generally slow down your computer.

2.Clean Your Registry

Registry Cleaner can cleans your system registry of unnecessary entries that are created when you install or remove programs on your computer. An "orphaned" registry entry can confuse Windows and cause a delay. Slimming down your registry will make Windows run faster. Sometimes it can speed up your computer up to 300%.Top 5 Regsitry cleaners can be found on this page:

3.Clean out spyware and Malware
Spyware and malware can slow down your system a lot, because they use your resources to generate popup ads, send spam, and often interfere with the operation of good programs.

4.Stop Programs from starting on Windows boot
To prevent programs from launching themselves at start-up.Click Start-Run-Msconfig-Startup,then uncheck unused programs.

5.Clean history and temp files.
Deleting temporary and unnecessary files from your hard drive can improve your computer's performance.

This site http://www.speed-up-computer.info/index.php?t=speed lists a step-by-step guide, hope that help you.

Good Luck!

Try running a scan disk by right clicking on start button then go to system restore selecting c drive or where your operating system is then go to properties go to tools error checking select both boxes then say its ok to check on restart reboot your system and wait might take a couple of hours but that should speed up your system. Also on internet explorer set your cache to 10 megabytes that should speed up your surfing. Finaly check your ram with software to see if it is defective.

The only way to get your pc to its original state is to format the whole thing.
1. backup your files on another hard drive.
2. boot from a windows cd, delete all partitions and recreate 2 partitons one for windows and the other for all your files.
3. Install windows on C.( let that be 10 GIGs or more)
4. get your files back on D(the other partiton).

like this you can just format C and reinstall windows wihout having to backup your files and u can do it so easily.

feel free to mail me if u need more help.

Well in just about all groups, your web is actually plugged into a few field on or close your road. When everybody plugged into that field attempt to max out their web connections you may also revel in a few slower web. As on your laptop, it does have anything to do with it. Your internet browser has to load, and your laptop runs it. Viruses too can gradual down your laptop and absorb plenty of your web connection, making it seem gradual
