All the violence that is directed towards children...

Look at the music now...look at MTV...look at the video games...look at the lack of parenting and the lack of teaching children right from wrong and self respect...and..uh oh...yeah I said it...PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY....

These kids now think that it is cool to carry guns and "pop a cap" in someone...

Has NOTHING to do with the rap music that glorifies gang wars...oh no...can't say that...you are a racist....

Has NOTHING to do with the ultra-violent video games....oh no....

Where are the parents at?

Guns were legal when I was growing up...none of my friends ever even THOUGHT of doing something like this...but then again...our music talked about wearing sunglasses at night and electric avenue...and Thriller....our parents taught us right from wrong and BEAT OUR ASSSES and let us know when we were wrong…they didn't care about our "feelings"…they weren't our "friends"….they were our PARENTS….

All I am saying is these "people" that want to ban guns now because of this aren't looking at the root cause of the problems in our society....

That's all...

And yes I am angry...the way people are within our society are makes me angry...

And no I won't shoot anyone...that is what they have target practice for....

I almost shot orange juice out of my nose when I read this. I believe in peoples' right to own guns. I also know that most of my beliefs aside from that are liberal. I ALSO know that most liberal people would not deny that music and television send some negative messages to children and people in general. I was raised by the most conservative of conservative parents. I wouldn't say they did such a great job. Why is this so black and white to you?

WOOHOO! Right on sister! You can look back and see the decline, when the paddle and morals were removed from schools, good behavior and manners and respect went right down the toilet. And to the twit above, yes, spanking is a wonderful idea. It teaches your little brat that there are serious consequences to breaking the rules! You'll figure that out when you become a parent.

Look at movies like Natural Born Killers and rap groups like whatever that bunch of thugs Ice T was in glorifying killing cops. This kind of crap is what kids are looking up to. Sure, we had Dirty Larry Crazy Mary, but in our flicks the bad guys lost!

There is some validity to your point. I have noticed how the liberals espouse non-violence and anti-gun rhetoric yet look at the movies coming out of Hollywood. "Grindhouse" for instance. Even though it went straight into the toilet, you can bet there will be even more violent movies right behind it. They don't even seem to care if it makes a profit or not.

How many movies have car chases, gun play, violent fights etc? Isn't there anything else to make a movie about?

Don't even start on the video game violence!!!

Yeah, that rap music and MTV was also a real problem back in both the Old West and 1920s Al Capone Chicago when people were also shooting each other up with guns.

Why is it that all other countries have access to all the same movies and music, yet they murder and commit violent crime at far less rates then in America? Could it be because the movies and music aren't the cause? Yes. There is something unique within the US, and it isn't music and movies.

You may be right. Everything you list might be contributing factors. One question though. Why are you so quick to absolutely exclude the prevalence of guns as a contributing factor as well? Shouldn't we be willing to look at ALL aspects of the issue? 32 people died yesterday, many more wounded. Don't we owe it to them and to their families to try and make sure that this never happens again?

You are so right. It is not society's fault it is the parents who did not teach the kid . I know when I do something wrong and so did this Korean kid. That is why he shot himself in the end. Too bad kids today do not know the meaning of personal responsibility.. By the way Juniper he didn't say beat the kid he said spank the kid and there is a huge difference.Parents need to discipline their children and they do not seem to do much of that today.

why "Libs"? why not just ask your question and not try to pidgeonhole people's responses based on their political platform? my answer is; lost of people can watch videos and not go kill anyone ever, so why should we blame media when it is a PERSONAL decision to kill? there is something much bigger going on here, and we ALL, collectively, as a nation, have some responsibility in this. Whether you like it or not.

While I agree that there is too much violence on TV and in media, why is that a "liberal" issue? Successul capitalists decide what to show in order to make money. Successful capitalists are frequently conservative in political thought.

I completley agree with you about all this, it makes me angry aboutalot of things that go on in this world. When some one comlains about it and say somethings are bad some people pull racism and other crap like that. This country is getting way over the top in the libral way of thinking and in the end its making todays youth think every thing is acceptable and it is not!
