I was looking in my attic and I found this old sewing machine in mint condition. I was just wondering how much I could sell it for. It's just missing the instruction manual. The vox it came in still looks nice as well.
I know this website below has some forn sale.
Any ideas on how to find out how much it is worth will help me so much.

The Singer 221 aka "Featherweight" are very popular machines with quilters because they are lightweight and easy to take to class. They only straight stitch, but they do it well. They are not rare, because there were a over a millon made from 1934 -1964. However, they are in demand and sell well. Value depends on condition and completeness. Most in good, working conditon sell between $200-$400 on ebay, a few special editions go higher. I would recommend you look on ebay to see ones in similar condition and with typical accessories. You could try to sell yours locally through craigslist or put up notices in local quilt shops.

You can get a replacement manuual at www.221parts.com. For more information about the featherweight, check out Graham Forsdyke's site at www.singer-featherweight.com, including an online version of the manual and descriptions of attachments. You can also check the serial number on the bottom of the machine and see what year it was made.

Get a measurement sixteen or 18 needle and spot how the desktop does on a scrap of denim (4 layers will come in the direction of simulating a hem or in which 2 seams go than simply 4 layers). Quilting - are you asking approximately patchwork or quilting the "sandwich" of backing, batting, and layout/most sensible material? Make a pot holder to scan - you'll be able to use simple material and simply duvet it or make a functional patchwork to scan 1 / 4 inch foot (makes it functional to get the right seam allowance) after which layer it with batting and backing to duvet and use bias seam binding to conclude it off. Probably desire a measurement 12 for the one hundred% cotton material and a 14 for the quilting - however determine the needle chart for the desktop, you probably have the handbook.

Singer featherweights are the only antique that will bring any money. The rest are only worth $35.00 no matter how beautiful they are.

You will make more if you sell it locally, because the buyer won't have to be concerned about shipping charges. I'd go right to Craig's List or your local classifieds. You have a good find there.
