If you are going to purchase an Antivirus program - either McAfee or Symantec(Norton) are good reputable programs. If you are looking for free ones there are a lot of those out there too. AVG for one, you can find a bunch here:

I think McAfee and Norton are pretty much in the same ballpark, although Norton is either more well known or more widely used. I have Norton.

Download Norton, AVG , Avast which are free antivirus software. They do protect your computer and you can keep updating them once in three days or so. Ad-aware, Ewido are free spyware removers. You can download free softwares at http://fixit.in/antivirus.html and http://fixit.in/spywareremover.html

kaspersky,mcafee, or norton will be a good choice
avg and avast get pushed alot on here but they miss alot and have problems

F-secure is best followed by Sophos.
I use McAfee, though, and it works fine.

don't listen to these guys.
take bitdefender it's the best.
at most of those i had, had problems like: it doesn't scan good, delete's whitout asking and other problems
but bitdefender always ask
