First, check the device driver:
To open Device Manager, click Start,
point to Settings,
and then click Control Panel.
Double-click System.
On the Hardware tab,
click Device Manager.
Right-cl the item to be checked and select Properties.
You should be told whether or not the item is working properly. You can also update the driver from here.
***************
If that doesn't do it, I'd go to the manufacturer's website and look for "support."
You can also check out these website - with luck you may find your answer there.

Try your right mouse button. If it works, your left button is broken. Usually caused by overuse on Dell point and click games.

This has happened to me on several occasions. I usually shut the computer off and turn it back on. Use the arrow keys , go to start, shut and/or restart the computer.

much better if you unplug all cables and press power button for about 60 seconds and replug all cables and try to turn your computer back on and test your mouse.

Turn off your computer, check all connections, try again. If still not working, you'll have to diagnose software/driver issues in control panel.
