Louisiana and New Orleans has their own government who should have insisted on evacuation many hours before the hurricane hit, but they didn't.
There were hundreds of buses that could have been utilized to get the older or poorer people out. They were not used.
The levees didn't break until AFTER the storm passed by. Even some major newspapers the next morning had headlines that indicated that the city had survived the big one and all was OK. Then the levees broke, which caused almost all of the damage and death seen on the news.
The people in the college in Virginia were not living below sea level where it had been predicted for many years that they would one day be under water.
The people in Virginia were shot and killed by a lunatic before they even knew what was happening.
The residents of New Orleans and it's government KNEW many many hours before the storm hit that it was coming and they needed to prepare. Whose fault is it that they didn't?
Please don't pull the President into your twisted logic. It doesn't work!

The federal government could not intervene in Katerina until asked by the state. Blanco told the White House they were not wanted. Nagin refused to order a mandatory evacuation until 48 hours too late, he knew it would take 72 hours but waited until 24 hours before the hurricane hit. And you try to blame Bush? You have no perception of the truth.
Aid was not requested by the state until New Orleans was isolated. It was never requested by Nagin because he left before the hurricane arrived, just like a ship's captain. Oh, sorry, he abandoned ship before it even started sinking.
By the time the hurricane happened, it was a matter of getting people out, not getting anyone in. Especially not the president. It would have interfered with the evacuation.
The two scenarios have nothing in common and only someone with more interest in making a point and supporting their cause would try to create a link. It shows a complete ignorance of reality, lost to the hate induced haze.

each and every chief of a kin contributors (guy or woman) has the accountability to look after their kin and that is composed of evacuating the portion of an coming near near disaster. The final time the federal government entered a state with out the States permission it replaced into referred to as the Civil warfare. The community and State government of Louisiana failed their human beings. The state of Mississippi, the state that Katrine honestly made land fall, and Alabama did lots greater applicable by way of fact they usual Federal help till now. there have been many mess ups in that typhoon yet what it did teach is each and each human beings might desire to take value of our own lives, we would desire to count on our selves. while you're actually not waiting to take care of your self then you definately are probably yo be left at the back of in a dire subject.

I guess I don't understand. Why is the president's presence so important? Plus there are many considerations - such as situational control by local government, whether the local law enforcement could support the president coming in, etc. Presidents don't visit natural disaster sites until control has been re-established.
The major fumbling regarding Katrina was by Blanko and the media. Especially the media.
The reason the world laughs at the US is because of the simpletons who attach any meaningful significance to Bush visiting NO immediately after the hurricane and the levee failure.

W is a problem for the whole planet, not just Americans. There was a very deep sigh breathed by real people all around the world when he cheated his way back into the Whitehouse. Americans are now starting to feel the pinch and the world has wars, Iran is next. Americans are, in the main, a great people, but how on earth that lunatic took charge is a mistery.

You sure talk fancy.
Is it too much to ask the citizens of our nation to take some responsibility for their own actions. My sister law-in-law had a layover in New Orleans the night before Katrina hit and the party on Bourbon St. was still raging. Lets all sit on our butts at the party and ignore all the warnings. Then we'll complain when the government isn't there to save us.
As for Bush , I guess he learn his lesson about putting too much faith in his appointees.
The reason people outside America hate us so much is the same reason we hate the guy driving a BMW, jealousy. Everyone hates the guy at the top even if he pays you to work for him or gives you tons of money. Jealousy is the ugliest human trait.

Katrina has been blanketed with Faux news lies to the point that those who WANT to believe it was handled well can toss off a dozen lame excuses as if they were gospel.
- such as the belief that a blizzard compared to the loss of an entire major city and coastal area in property damage, lives lost, or FEMA assistance (requested in both cases and not adequately sent)
- such as the belief that mass destruction within our national borders is not the responsibility of the Federal government - Then what does FEMA do?
- Such as the belief that the loss of lives could have been prevented IF ONLY parked buses were used (despite lack of drivers, routes, pickup points, destinations, and the abject failure of the Houston evacuation shorly after Katrina) ...and the SHAMEFUL refusal to allow victims to WALK over a bridge to safety by rifle toting sheriffs.
We sure have our share of "pathetic child minded minions" here...it's a fact.

From what I read regarding the natural disaster that left New Orleans flooded and "a mess" was to be handled at the State level. From the miscommunication last time I feel President Bush will go to VTech and also address the flooding in the Eastern United States that also left alot of people homeless.
Fool me once shame on me kinda logic. He appears to learn and makes un popular choices standing by his convictions.
Unlike other "popular" Presidents who get caught with their pants down forgetting to protect our nation.
Other countries need to get proper information and like our citizens read beyond the bias & headlines.
It's an election season after all. Talk about that on your trip.
Thank you.

When will you libs ever admit the truth? The whole Katrina debacle rests squarely on the shoulders of "Chocolate City Ray Nagin (Democrat) and Governor Blanco (Another Democrat). They screwec the pooch on that whole deal. I mean even Amtrac offered to evacuate the city and Nagin turned them down cold. The money that was given to New Orleans to reinforce their seawalls was spent by Nagin on stinking buses that he allowed to be swamped in the flood rather than using them to evacuate the city.
Katrina also hit Texas and Florida, and then Wilma his Florida again, yet texas and Florida didn't have one tenth of the problems because BOTH TEXAS AND FLORIDA HAD REPUBLICAN GOVERNORS WHO WERE COMPETENT TO DO THEIR JOBS.
President Bush isn't responsible for that mess in Louisiana. That's Blanco's fault and Nagin's fault and they both belong in prison.

Oh I forgot, Bush caused Katrina. Yeah, Katrina was a natural disaster which had a very corrupt liberal local government been doing what they were supposed to be doing with millions of federally awarded dollars earmarked to do things like fix the levies, would never have been as bad. Not to mention that Bush was out of the country when the hurricane hit.
