What sort of of measurements should have been taken during the shooting at Virginia Tech to minimize the loss of life. What preventions should the school have taken, and what can we do to prevent another school shooting.

I do not believe we can--People snap like there everywhere--post offices-the snipers that just went and shot....It is sad that no matter where you are in public you could be shot or blown up. I so wish there was a way to make the world a better place....but the college is an open school anyone can come and go as they please......Best I can think of they could do is up the guards on campus and the people that should be have some sort of ID on them.

Do you want to treat our schools like prison? Arm the professors, arm students ? We can look back, and come up with maybe a better game plan for when these events occur again. What more could they have done at the time? It is easy to look back with 20/20 hindsight. Should we sound a campus wide alarm, could that spread panic faster than necessary, or make the situation worse. At the moment they think he was a student, so he would have had access to most buildings, in which he could have still entered Norris Hall and continued his killing spree. There is not a way to afford police to protect every building on campus. Should we hire snipers to protect a campus?
