From about 24 to 27 weeks he was kicking all downward and was breach. However, after 27 weeks he started kicking all around my belly button and right above it and around it....but, usually no lower than the belly button. I'm now 28 weeks and I was wondering, if he's kicking in those spots and no longer down low, which position could he be in? I won't find out until my next ultrasound.

There's really no way to tell. Sometimes what you think is a kick is actually a punch or an elbow.

In the later months its easy tell the difference between a foot or a hand. If all the movements seem to be above the belly button then most likely he is upside down. But, that doesn't mean he can't turn back over, and that doesn't mean that those kicks aren't punches.... He's still got lots of room in there to turn and flip a whole lot. Usually once they turn upside down they don't go back, but it does happen to alot. Mine turned right around week 27. Now he's spinning on his head-break dancing or something...!

Feels the top (fundus) of the uterus to determine if it's hard and round, like the head, or irregular and soft, like hands, feet and elbows.

Put your hands on both sides of the abdomen to determine on which side the baby's back lies. The back is smooth and convex, whereas the extremities have multiple parts. Discerning the location of the back helps considerably in determining the baby's position.

Place a single hand just above the pelvic bone to feel for the head (round and hard) versus little feet, ankles and knees (irregular and nodular).

Determine the exact position of the head and neck within the mother's pelvis (if the head is down there) and which way the baby is facing for delivery.

Maneuvers 1 through 3 can be tried at home, while the fourth is best left for the experts (it's quite difficult).

maybe it is arm of hands??? But there really is no way to tell without an ultraSound.

My baby was breech until recently (33 1/2weeks pregnant). My dr. told me that he was still breech because she could not feel his head down low so I asked her to do an ultrasound just to be certain and sure enough as luck would have it...he already turned and his head is way down that is why she couldn't feel it.

Soo...an ultra sound is really the only way to tell...
