in some states it is and HELL YES it should be. Not only that but in the states that dropped the law where you can sue the person they are having an affair with should freaking be brought back. if more damn people were sued and put into jail maybe those home wrecking SOB's would think twice before getting it on with a married person and tell that person to go work it out with their spouse!

Definitely, because adultry has ruined so many marriages, but most of all so many children's lives. Adultry is like child abuse and then those children grow up to ruin another family, because that's the way they were raised!
If you people don't know that yet and you could ask this dumb question, then I think it should be illegal for people like you.

Yes I think adultery should be illegal and punishable by law. I think the whole society would benefit from a law that places adulterers in jail or makes them attend classes for it like they do for DUI's. They should use the fines paid from the mistresses to build special jails for the men and it should be run entirely by females who have been cheated on. Ha Ha.
No seriously it is illegal in most states it just can't be enforced because there is no proper punishments for feelings and not enough room in jails to worry about people with high sex drives.

Although the definition of "adultery" differs in nearly every legal system, the common theme is sexual relations outside of marriage, in one form or another.
A marriage in which both spouses agree that it is acceptable for the husband or wife to have sexual relationships with other people other than their spouse is a form of nonmonogamy. The resulting sexual relationships the husband or wife has with other people, although could be considered to be adultery in some legal jurisdictions, are not treated as such by the spouses.
Some cultures have a distinguished interpretation of the term infidelity: in some legal systems, it might be tolerated as long as it does not fit the jurisdiction's legal definition of adultery. On the other hand, infidelity is not only a sexual term, but is the Latin word "unfaithful"

there's a great element you have skipped over - money. whether you should no longer condone adultery, some circumstances do stem from truthful affection that would desire to become a protracted-lasting relationship. Prostitution isn't on the comparable point. you're paying for the "correct". mutually as our way of life has moved slightly in the direction of the mild of accepting that variety of habit, i do no longer think of you recognize that legalizing prostitution could have a adverse effect on the variety of adultery circumstances, as this is going to between different establishments throughout society - unfold of STD's, marriage, faith, etc. and don't ignore that adulterers can generally lose great in divorce settlements and civil fits that shop on with the divorce. Neither must be allowed, yet regrettably I might desire to assert that adultery is the lesser of the two evils. you have have been given to look previous the line of reasoning of who's "rapidly" affected.

Yes!! Not only does the other spouse have legal claims to divorce, its immoral as well. In some countries, they imprison or stone to death the person who commits adultry. Plus, why risk it?

Yes, and in some states it is. It is the violation of a legal contract and therefore the adultress and adulturer should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. I also believe the spouse who was cheated on should have the right to sue the person who committed adultery with their spouse for financial damages.

Yes ..why..because if anyone who thinks it is ok to go out and commit adultery had to serve time it would either cut down on people getting married or cut out the cheating spouse.... I also feel it should be the cheating spouse and the person they did it with both getting charged....

It is in most states.
Hey it's illegal to speed and steal and shoot people, too - but laws don't seem to slow anyone down very much. You simply cannot legislate morality. You can legislate consequences, sometimes, but that's about it.

In some states it still is unfortunately in others that are "no fault" states you could have sex with 4 goats, a mule, a donkey and 8 men and it wouldn't count against you as adultery. Nice values we are teaching our kids eh?
