I have e-mailed a supervisor of a well-known buffet in Vegas, told them we have between 20 and 30 people attending, and would like to go to their buffet at 7:30 on a Friday night. We know there are long lines, but would like to bypass this, and enter at once. I also offered to pay two weeks in advance for VIP passes.
Here was the response: I can put you down on my calendar for that day and time if you would like. This way we would be able to accommodate you when you get here. Here is my question-Does this sound too good to be true, or should I look somewhere else for a place to dine in Las Vegas when inviting 20-30 guests?

Every upscale buffet I've been to in Vegas has a VIP line, and that sort of thing you describe makes perfect sense. Once your party arrives, they will all be seated as a group (ahead of any general public waiting in the regular line).
Inside the buffet area, it's everyone for him/herself just like everyone else who has been seated -- but that's not a bad thing.
I would have a generous tip in-hand for the maitre-de, or seating hostess (like $10.00) IF you hadn't paid for any premium/VIP service ahead of time.

If it's a well-known place that's popular and decent, then I wouldn't be surprised if they were accomodating. It would obviously be better for them to get 20-30 more people to dine at their buffet. I don't know what your e-mail stated, but did it also say that you'd be able to bypass the long lines?

No, I don't think that it sounds at ALL "too good to be true". All the person did was respond affirmatively that the restaurant would be able to accommodate you. Sorry, but I don't read any more or less into that response. What did you expect the response to be?

It does not at all sound like they are going to give you VIP passes. That was a very non-committal response, meaning that they will have an appropriate amount of seating, perhaps, but really that the staff will be ready for you.

It's more than likely true. They love for you to eat at their buffets in the hotels, hoping you will go to the casinos too.
The buffets are wonderful!

this sounds pretty good, just be sure to bring the email from the supervisor, this way there is no way for them to tell you that they never heard from you before

i dont understand. you asked for someting and you got it and now you're wondering if it's too good to be true?? did you not expect to be able to get what you asked for?
it seems reasonable to me, just print out his response and bring it with you. Email him afew days prior as well just to remind him.
