The 'war on terror' is being fought 'over there'. The jihad against America will be fought 'over here'. And while I don't believe that VT had any connection to terrorism, I think that we underestimate the terrorists and their intelligence if we think that acts of terror come only in large doses. One of the important strategic components of war is to keep the enemy off guard. And small, seemingly unrelated tragedies do just that...keep us off guard. I wouldn't be surprised if they capitalized on this tragedy, recognizing that the American eye might be off the ball for a little while. Just look at the news networks...you'd think that there was nothing else newsworthy going on in the world, yesterday or today. War? What war? Alberto Gonzales? Who's he?

We are trying to stop terrorism and remember that we were attacked a number of times. Will there be acts here? I am sure that it will happen but I believe we are doing our best to keep it from happening.
The school shooting is a terrorist act on a whole. However there is no evidence that it’s about the war in any way. I got a feeling that it’s just someone that had a break down.

We are fighting it over here in the sense that we are having to deal with a shortage of national guard as well as the country being divided, there are many ways of having a war and failing to have the country united behind you isdefintely not a way to keep it "over there".
Just my humbe opinion.

The war on terror will always be fought in every nation, in every society. Terrorism isn't unique to the middle east. Lest we forget that America has proven it's ability to breed it's own Terrorists via Ted Kozinski and Timothy McVeigh to name a few.

HUH! !?! What does this have to do with the price of rice in China? This murdering psycho nut job went after his ex-girlfriend on the same campus he lived on. This is not a subject to parse political debate on

No. I take it you're referring to yesterday's shootings. No, there's no evidence that he was acting according to typical terrorist motives. Even if he was, it's one incident. I'm more interested in patterns that actually mean something then isolated incidents that don't.

Only if you think a wacko with a gun and a domestic grudge is a terrorist; missing a political motive, I'd disagree with you.
God knows, Blacksburg VA would be the place to start.
