black metal , satanic metal , death metal , are all the same thing , trust me i listen to all of them , they all sing about killing sh*t. wich is awsome! there is really no difference.

I don't know what kind of death and black metal all these other people are listening to, but there are many differences. Death metal has a heavy, downtuned guitar sound with throaty guttural vocals and black metal has a raw, thinner guitar sound with shrill or raspy vocals. Also, death metal tends to be more complex in the composition of the songs while black metal has a more minimalistic approach.

Both of these music lies at the genre of extreme metal music. But of course there is a unique element from each genre.
Here are my opinion :
Death music, in this music, we can listen that they play the song in some amazing speed in all instruments, this music bring us some low tune of guitar riff in rhythm section, then combine with also low tune bass guitar and push it again with some high tune of guitar in lead section, and add a blazing double bass drum, and the most unique, this music usually use a growl, usually the low growl from the deep throat vocal.
Black metal, in this music the musician usually use some high tune in all guitar and bass guitar section, and usually they use some sound that provide with keyboard to make it scary and also using the double bass drum and a high tension of vocal. I mean they use some high octave vocal to provide some horror condition in their music.

death metal is just mostly CSI scripts screamed at high volume while Black Metal kicks ***

There is a difference despite what everyone above me has said. It has mostly to do with the vocals. Death = cookie monster sounds. Black = screeching vampire sounds.

yea...I also tried to figure out what's the difference between these two genres, but I couldn't find any difference. Maybe in lyrics, but they're all pretty the same...
